I was sucked into this book, just like the first! I will say this was a big book. 969 pages of small print is a lot to get through! This book continues pretty much exactly where the first book ends. I just love how there are so many characters and plots to this book. At times you think it becomes overwhelming but then it just all clicks. It amazes me how everyone has their own agenda and the way they plot to make them seem on one side but then really only being on their own. My favorite character so far is of a nine year old girl named Arya. She has her own point of view throughout the books. I'm excited to see where her story goes. I will say, there are so many deaths. I'm a little worried none of these characters will actually make it all the way through the series. I was actually surprised by the fact that the end of this book had a surprised ending! It was pretty exciting though because now the plot thickens... haha :-)
I did not enjoy it at all! It was such a SLOW read! The book should have taken me a day but it was just impossible.. The story was really good but could have been all said and done in the first half of the book! It just dragged and I was forcing myself to finish this book.
It was a shame because I know she's really popular but I will not be reading another of her books anytime soon. I'll stick to watching her movies on lifetime every now and then! No offense to those who love/like her but I just had a hard time getting through this book. Way to slow for my taste!

Anyways, I have never read anything by James Patterson before. I had no idea what I was in for, so I was nervous to say the least. He has several appearances on my top 50. This man does it all! He's dipped his toes in every age group! So this is the first book I've read by him and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
I'm going to kind of give a short description of the book. It's about this future world where they are mostly mechanical to become the "perfect human" and they are trying to make the actual human race extinct because they are convinced they are not good for the planet. Well they are of course "super-human", have all the top gadgets and pretty much rule the world. This guy finds out he is not all he thought he was and his whole world turns upside down. It definitely is a twist to the book and turns out he has to fight against what he was supporting in the first place.
It's actually a really good book. It's definitely not something I would ever think I'd enjoy! The book has a couple of twists that I actually didn't see. It was refreshing and very interesting. I was hesitant at first because I was sure there was no way this story was going to captivate me at the beginning but it definitely did.
Having to read these titles is definitely opening up some more reading options that I would never have considered before. This book definitely has be excited for more of the books by him on my list

I can say the book is way better than the movie! That is usually the case though when it comes to film adaptations of books. I did enjoy the movie, I own it... but the book is better!
The book shows a lot more detail to behind the scenes, a lot of what happens before the big blow up on the film with the three main characters. It also gives you more details about how hard life was working for a horrible man. The movie gets a bit into it by just stating a few things, the book shows you a whole lot more of the struggle. There's a large part of the book that does discuss what exactly happens with Jacob, Marlena and August. Especially how Jacob and Marlena's characters grow to love each other. There's a bit more to August's story as well. What I'm a little disappointed about when it comes to the movie, is the short time they spend on after Jacob and Marlena plan to leave. There's a lot more that I think would have been good to throw in the movie, but what do I know.
Anyways, this was a good read! I'm glad I read it. Sometimes I have a hard time reading the book after I've seen the movie. I don't like knowing the outcome but I heard so much hype about the book, I just had to. Another book on my list is the Help. I've seen the movie but I have heard the book is way better, which I intend to find out! I kind of half to now, it's on the list! :)

3.5 stars. I won this from a Goodreads First Reada giveaway. This is definitely a good description of what high school peer pressure can be. I caught myself thinking, are you kidding me!?! Then again, I have matured and don't have the "I'm invincible mindset." I thought that the author did really well expressing the thought process of the teens. This was a really hard lesson for the character, which almost cost her life. Overall, I enjoyed this book!
I won this book from a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I am giving my honest review. I did not like this book. It was very difficult for me to get through. It was definitely not what I was expecting. The characters drove me nuts! They were very annoying and way too cheesy. The "dragon" was just outright irritating. There were several different times that I found myself rolling my eyes. Kaja, the main character, was the worst. I know that people loves dogs. It's one thing to love your pet but another when you have to drag that pet EVERYWHERE. One of her work conditions was that she had to have her dog with her at work. She took the dog on dates, meetings, everywhere. A lot of the book is just her one-sided conversation with the dog. Oh, and the dog and dragon can talk to each other. I did not like the writing style at all. It might be okay for other people but this just wasn't my kind of reading style.
I won this from a Goodreads, First-reads Giveaway. It took me longer than usual because I had a nasty cold. Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken me long to finish this book. It's a pretty quick read and it keeps you wanting more. It is a different take on paranormal than I'm used to but that's not a bad thing. Ring, Wally & Risa are a family type unit (who sleep together) that kill the monsters in the night. They end up getting pulled into a war of power. This was a well written book that kept me interested! I can't wait to read the next one by this author!

I started this book this morning and finished it before I had to leave at work at 5pm. I could not put it down. It's a story about Ichmad Hamid and his coming of age during the Arab-Isreal conflict, set in Palestine. It's such a moving and well written story. It shows the love a family has for each other and even through all the horrible things they have to go through, they have such hope. The father is sent to prison for 14 years because of something Ichmad did when he was 12 years old. When his father is taken and named a terrorist, they destroy the family's home. It's then up to Ichmad to take care of the family and deal with his guilt. He drops out of school and starts working hard labor for little money. He is very smart and pretty much a math genius. After struggling for so many years and losing siblings to their misfortunes, he sets off to a math competition, to win a scholarship to college. Of course, he then starts to help his family and making strides in his career path. Although, you think things will start to look up, it doesn't happen. He still has many misfortunes to go through and this book just sucks you in. It's a powerful story and I'm so glad I had the chance to read this book!
