I won this from a First Reads- Goodreads Giveaway. I want to thank Mary Sullivan for the book and her message. I liked this book. I have to say that I was intrigued with Gray's past and what everyone was keeping secret. Also, I liked how I couldn't figure out the Shelly situation until it was spelled out for me. I don't like when I can figure everything out. With that being said, the ending was a bit too "sweet" for my liking. It is the reason for the 3 stars. All in all, it was a cute, story. I wouldn't mind reading more from this author.

3.5 stars. I really liked this book until the last 100 pages or so. I was so intrigued by Louise and Cora's arrangement that I couldn't help myself wanting to keep reading until 2am. Then things turned a little weird towards the end and I started to get a little lost. The last part of the book was difficult for me to get through and that's sad because it started off so well.

I've been wanting to read a few of his books but they are just on my never ending list of "TBR." I flew through this book. It's not only a quick read but very interesting. I was worried that it would get too preachy but it didnt. There's definitely a religious theme but it's not overwhelming if you don't like that kind of book.I will definitely be reading his other books.

A coming of age story about love and family. The first part of this book was pretty slow. I think I was more than half way before it picked up and the story actually took off. Its not a horrible thing because it was important to catch the details about the characters. I was completely shocked by the ending! I didn't see that coming. I was starting to get a little confused towards the end because the point of view would change in the middle of a paragraph or conversation. The story starts off with Fin telling it from his POV then switches to Lydia's at the end. Overall, I liked the story.

I got this from a Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I liked this but I didn't love it. The story was interesting but it started to get a little unbelievable towards the end. I don't mind reading Christian fiction but it's hard when the book becomes really preachy. It got a little too much for me. I don't know of it's because it's nothing new to me as a Christian but it didn't flow. It got a bit redundant, which might have to do with the flow problem. This is the first book I've read by this author. Another thing I didn't like was that i had the whole book figured out from the prologue. So knowing exactly who did what from the absolute beginning kind of made the book drag, while they were catching up.

I won this book from Goodreads First Reads Giveaway. I really liked this book!! I started it and couldn't put it down. The characters were funny and I enjoyed the writing. Mel is trying to figure out why she isn't happy. It starts off with her at her best friends wedding. It then goes back in time to talk about events leading up to the wedding. Her other best friend is already married and 8 months pregnant. She is feeling a little depressed and jealous that her life is no where close to being married and pregnant like her best friends. She starts a fling with her friends brother. It takes her to Paris and she does some traveling before ending up in Maui. She is visiting her best friend from college, who she dated, but is now gay. She then starts to find she is happy and falling in love with her vacation life in Maui. Not only that, she's finding out things about herself and taking charge of her life. It's a story about a girl finding herself and not doing things to please others but herself. I found myself laughing out loud at points. I really enjoyed this read and I'm glad that I won it from a Goodreads Giveaway!

I won this book from a Goodreads, First-Reads Giveaway. It was the second book in a series, which for some reason I didn't realize when I entered the drawing. The good thing is that a lot of books these days like to do little summaries about big events from the previous book. So I wasn't lost and just got caught up in the story. It's paranormal YA book. Basically, Lela is a Guard of the shadowlands, which means she has to protect the people on earth from the Mazikin (Kinda like bodysnatchers). So this story is about her fight to keep them from infesting the world and her relationship with her Guard. It was really interesting and I love a main lead who can kick butt on her own. She is the leader and she can take care of her self and the ones around her. I can't wait to see how this continues in the next book!

I grabbed this book because the cover caught my interest. I mean what's another young adult book about some kind of epidemic and trying to fix them. Although, this one was a bit different.

This book is about the love story of Sloane and James. The epidemic in this book is depressions which leads to teen suicide. So all the teens have to act like they have no emotions, all the time. Are you kidding me? These are teens, who by far, show the most emotion of any of us! Anyways, there's a time that all the sudden the suicides of teens increases so they make a Program to fix them. What happens is that if any teen starts to show symptoms of being sick (depressed/sad/mean/unhappy/argumentative/and so on) then they need to be sent to the Program to be fixed. The Program will wipe their memories clean and they wont remember their friends or relationships after they get out. They only remember their families and a little of their lives. Sloane and James are in love and had a common factor, her brother. James and her brother were best friends and that's who they know each other. They hung out all the time just the three of them. Then one day, her brother kills himself. Since they can show any type of serious emotion, they have to keep it in or they will be sent away. So this is where James and Sloane really start to fall for each other. Even though, they were already seeing each other in secret before her brother killed himself.

Without giving away too much of the plot, something happens to their best friend that starts the unraveling of these two. They end up getting sent to the Program, at different times. So then will they remember each other afterwards? Will love conquer all and they know each other? I really liked this book and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

What is it lately with these horrible endings! This book had so much potential! I can't believe I picked this up, I hate horror. This book is a bit scary because there's a lot of witch craft and dark magic talk. Here's the summary from Goodreads:

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Though her death is ruled a suicide, veteran investigative journalist Scott McGrath suspects otherwise. As he probes the strange circumstances surrounding Ashley’s life and death, McGrath comes face-to-face with the legacy of her father: the legendary, reclusive cult-horror-film director Stanislas Cordova—a man who hasn’t been seen in public for more than thirty years.
For McGrath, another death connected to this seemingly cursed family dynasty seems more than just a coincidence. Though much has been written about Cordova’s dark and unsettling films, very little is known about the man himself.
Driven by revenge, curiosity, and a need for the truth, McGrath, with the aid of two strangers, is drawn deeper and deeper into Cordova’s eerie, hypnotic world.
The last time he got close to exposing the director, McGrath lost his marriage and his career. This time he might lose even more.

Doesn't that sound so interesting?! It was.. until the end! I was really caught up in this book and it was kind of freaking me out at the same time. I have to say, I had to wait until my husband was home to read it. It was just so gripping and I couldn't wait to figure out what they were going to uncover next. I had to know what was happening with Ashley and her crazy father. Turns out the reality of what's happened is something I didn't see coming. Actually, it was kind of a bit boring. Then the last like 100 pages, I was completely bored. I kind of felt like I was being thrown all over the place. It felt like the author didn't quite know where she wanted the story to go or how to end it. I was left really unsatisfied for sure. I couldn't believe how well the whole book was until the last 100 pages or so for the ending. Was totally thinking a 5 star book but fell short with only 3 Stars.
