I don’t know what the protocol is for DNF books because I HARDLY ever do it. I got 40% of the way through this book and I couldn’t go anymore. I contemplated for a while but decided I needed to try and not read books if I’m not enjoying them. What I did read, I give 1 star… but guys… I’m so disappointed about this!

I really liked the Selection series. Is it the best series out there? Definitely not but it’s fun and I enjoyed them. I was excited for this one but I kind of went in hesitant because after reading the description, I knew there would be a love triangle.

The characters in this book are flat and boring. There is absolutely no depth. Everyone keeps meeting Hollis and telling her how amazing she is. What? She has no personality and I just didn’t care for her. There are MANY books where authors introduce characters that I’ve fallen in love with. I was almost half way through this book and I didn’t connect at all.

The king- Jamieson is rather annoying. He just laughs at everything that Hollis says. She’s not funny. Yet, it’s mentioned so many times how he’s laughing so much. I was just really confused.

Then we have the second love interest, Silas. Basically, he’s got these beautiful blue eyes that Hollis has a jolt when she sees them. She’s already in love and they don’t even know each other. Sigh.

The plot… is really going nowhere! I’m almost half way through this book and we’ve just been introduced to another King. She’s being set up as the next queen but the king hasn’t proposed to her. It’s all just very strange and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes a lot.

I read a spoiler-y review after I decided to DNF this and THANK goodness that I didn’t keep going!! I don’t know if I’ve completely grown out of Kiera Cass’s writing style or this was just a bad one for her.

4.5 stars.

I am really loving stand alone books right now! This book was so good!

I went into this book blind but I did know there were a lot of people talking about it. I am doing a readathon with a Facebook group and they loved this book.

I started this book hoping that I could get it finished in a week. It took me ONE DAY! Yes, I was lucky that Oliver took two naps that day! I could not put this book down. It’s fast paced because there’s just so much going on.

I really didn’t know how I felt about our main character, Alessandra. I still don’t quite know, haha. She’s evil, cunning, rude and quite frankly a murderer. The little bit of an issue I had was that she didn’t care. Cold blooded murder (it’s the first page guys, no spoilers, here). It kind of felt odd for to me to love a character that was so> ruthless. She was so fun to read though because she’s so smart and I loved how she didn’t care about anything. She made her own rules.

Our Shadow king is actually the same way. I think that’s what makes them so perfect. If you want to read about morally grey characters then this book is for you!

I really loved the romance in this book! The build up in their relationship is really good. I think that the way the shadows were worked into this story was brilliant! I’m starting to think Levenseller might be climbing up my author rankings list. I don’t really have one but she’s definitely one that I’ll be looking for her books!

If you want a fun, dark and morally grey story this is something you need to pick up asap! It’s a fast read and the fact that it’s a stand alone makes it all the better!

I am in the middle of a really dark and intense read. I’ve been trying to read this book since September (Darkdawn). I needed a break and my library e-book hold came available. So, I jumped right in and I couldn’t stop.

This is a such a sweet story. It’s actually quite amazing how you can learn about people by the way they live, without even meeting them. I love how their friendship starts because of leaving little notes to each other. It’s MONTHS before they even meet. I absolutely loved this premise.

I adored all the characters!! Tiffy is pretty much the opposite of Leon but they bring out such good things in each other. Even all of Tiffy’s friends are just incredible! They are by her side and they are all so different. It was fun getting to know them. I totally wouldn’t mind a spinoff of Rachel, she was fun. Even all the smaller characters were so great, Holly, for instance. She’s an 8 year old that I just adored.

This was a really fast paced book, it didn’t take me long to get through it. That being said, there’s some dark topics in here brought to light. I think it was handled really well. I will say, some of it I wanted more clarity, in the end.

If you want a fun, fast and cute chic-lit type book, this is for you. It really helped break up such an intense read for me, it’s what I needed. The ending of this book is pretty much everything! ❤

Okay, I'm going to start off by stating: This book is intended for a children. If you are over 12, take off your adult glasses. I enjoyed this and I would definitely recommend it for kids!

Chris Colfer, better known from his role on Glee, is the author. It was my initial reasoning for reading this. Plus, fairy tales?! Who doesn't love ANY type of book about ANY aspect of fairy tales. I sure do.

This is a story about twins, Alex and Connor. There is family cherished book having mysterious powers, allowing them to travel to another world. They come face to face with the fairy tale characters they loved growing up.

This was a lot of fun for me. It's quick and I loved how many different fairy tales that were included in this book.  His writing style was very descriptive and made the characters jump to life. Not to mention, it was actually quite entertaining! Alex and Connor are twins but they are pretty much the opposite of each other. It was great to see how they grew and came together to get through their obstacles. There's also several life lessons that were in this story that were subtle but really relevant to today's world.

I think children would really love escaping to this world! It's not the best book I've ever read, sure. It's light and fast paced and takes you to another world. If you are looking for something like that, it's for you or your kids!

I’ve had this on my shelf for a while and was so excited to get to it. The covers are gorgeous and I was hoping the inside would be too. I was really disappointed. I was going to rate this lower but the ending saved it some.

Mafi is building a huge world and I think there was a lot that confused me. There’s a lot of beautiful things and it’s got some really great details. It’s very whimsical. I don’t see this advertised as a Alice in Wonderland vibe but it totally is. I think my biggest issue was that during this journey everything is kept a secret from our main character. She has no idea what she’s doing and her companion is just keeping her in the dark. It also hindered how things worked for me, as a reader.

I also wasn’t the biggest fan of Alice or Oliver… not until the very end. They were just so bland. Also, all the secrets that Oliver had didn’t really make me like him. He kept getting mad at her for doing things but she literally had no idea how things worked. She keeps asking and he gets frustrated and ignores her half the time.

I was just so underwhelmed and was wishing for so much more from this. There is a lot of adventure in this book but I felt bored at times. I did put it down for a few days and I just finished it to finish. I did love the ending and I will read the next book because I own it. I’m just going in with low expectations.

I was blog hopping one day and I saw someone talking about this author. I totally forget who now, I'm so sorry!! I should have written it down. They came in from the library and I read them in about 10 minutes.

If you need a little laugh or a quick fun read, this is for you! This was hilarious. The advice that her mother has for her, most of it is so funny and very true. I loved the illustrations too! It's such a cute book and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading anything this author creates in the future!

Ohh.. this book! I will start off by saying that you have to be in the right mood/mind set to read this. Also, it helps if you can really focus and concentrate. A lot of people either hate or love this one. I am somewhere in the middle.

The writing was actually really beautiful and quite mesmerizing at times. That being said, it was also so complicated at times. There are many stories within stories. I think this is where this lost me. I think, I had some trouble really putting it all together in my head.

I really couldn’t quite connect to many the characters in this one, besides Zachery. I was really rooting for him. When I really connected to him, was when he became really frustrating with not knowing what was happening or going on… because SAME!!!

It’s a really slow paced book because you have to really soak it all in. You have to kind of figure things out as you are reading and that takes some time. I actually took a month break from this one. I was just not into it after getting about half way. When I picked it back up, the second half was a lot easier for me to get through. Again, I don’t know if it was my mindset or just the book got a bit better.

If you go in with the mindset that this will be a slow book with a lot of concentration needing, you might love it. It just wasn’t for me at this time.

I’m so glad that I finally picked up this book! Wow!

I think one of my favorite things about this book is the fact that it’s written in a series of interviews. You get the insights of pretty much everyone in this book! It was a nice change of pace. I was never lost and I didn’t find myself slowing down at all. In fact, I read this book rather quickly. It’s such a great flow.

These characters are not your typical characters. Going into this, I didn’t really know what this was about. You get their life stories throughout the time they were a part of this band. I love how this book isn’t just about one person and their experience. You get so many people’s stories and how they feel and see things. It made this book that much better.

There are definitely some tough subjects in this book. Drugs and alcohol have a major presence. It’s actually one of the main subjects of this book, really. A lot of things that could be triggering.

The only issue I had was the ending was just wrapped up so fast. It could have been that I just wasn’t ready to let go. I just felt like I needed more? It’s really my only complaint about the book.

Overall, this was a great book. I really enjoyed it and it’s a lot different than I would normally read. There’s a lot of extras in the back of the book too, definitely check those out! I think I’m going to be adding this author to my auto-buy list!!
