really super enjoyed, went on a bit long though and hard to get into, but worth the journey
entertaining, sad, can feel character growth, social commentary, inspiring

Not a fan, not sure what the point was and now I'm mentally scarred, had the chance to say something very profound about disability but it failed , hate it

totally pulled the rug from under me
loved section 1 with Lanny as a child really enjoyed the synesthesia + experimental novel form, digestible but still packed with meaning, fluid + formless
loved the character of dead papa toothwort really unique and creepy added a lot to the story

really sad and tough in second and third sections, would have enjoyed more of the first section but suppose that's not the point

excellent but nothing new from previous novels

sad, can see why its an American classic, well written

An Odyssey of black life in Britain , incredible engagement with modern culture and a literalisation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's rebellion against the Single Story, love how she uses language to distribute power (eg detailing the domestic lives of characters and not naming the university Carole goes to, her rebellion against the novel form through her polyvocal narrative, poetic prose and lack of capitalisation) , loved the play element and performance and public image , just so clever over all!
dark emotional funny hopeful lighthearted tense medium-paced

Very solid and interesting rendering of Irish emigration, modern + lots of witty social commentary, nice elements of romance without overkill cringe, nothing amazing plot-wise but its more about character study
