Devastating read for me personally

A wildly unpredictable, engaging, often repulsive, and healing book

There’s literally no way you could predict the ending of this book

A freaky surrealist piece about the embodiment of the grotesque and the loneliness of being othered, as well as the cruelty of realising too late where your priorities should have been and the things that stole that clarity from you. I need to think about this more but I found it beautiful and earnest and ambitious but perhaps not equal in what it was arguing or saying. I don’t think I will ever forget the meat quarry 🥲 The Substance and Poor Things girls will love this one!

Just not for me! Wasn’t feeling the atmosphere it’s supposed to have and not super bought into the story

Not my usual area but I really enjoyed reading this! A few areas I would have liked to see more developed (a bit more time spent on evenly structuring and finessing the plot / character motives and less on the poems) but I didn’t really mind, loved the characters and the magic system and will be reading the next one
