A book that encapsulates the complexities of a backstory. The art is spectacular and the writing is nothing short of beautiful. Wonderful insight to a complicated character and family dynamic.

Overall a good book; however, I found it was split between too many POVs and would have preferred something centered around Nikolai and Zoya only. My biggest complaint?
honestly I love Nina but her entire plot felt like fan service and I did not like Hanne at all. I mean, Brum’s daughter is a Grisha and Nina’s new love interest?? Not my thing. Love blatant bi Nina, I just wish Hanne didn’t have to be Brum’s daughter with massive connections
Nikolai and Zoya are prefect and made this book!!

I found this okay to be fun and interesting. Although a challenging read due to when it was written, it’s over all enjoyable and had a good basis for commentary on women’s position in society at the time and class and how they intersect.

This book is dated.  I believe it works better as a visual medium, the book doesn’t follow a specific character as narrator and feels more like a summary than a story.  Personally not for me.

A very beautifully written collection of fairy tales.  All inspired by childhood stories, yet new and refreshing.  Somehow this book makes the flushed out world of the grishaverse even more real and enchanting.  Reading it felt as though I was stepping foot into Alina's childhood, listing to cautionary tales.

Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes

Edith Hamilton

DID NOT FINISH

Although I'm sure some would disagree, I found Hamilton's portrayals of the Greek Myths and the culture to be quite uninformed and opinion based.  I bought this book wanting to learn the myths, however most of what was presented were sneers towards the Gods and Goddesses.  I will be turning my attention to Homer.

I don't really know how to rate this book other than amazing. This book changed my life and I'm not exaggerating when I say that. I used to be way below reading level back in fourth grade; however, I was studying Egyptian mythology and found this book series. I immediately fell in love. I think I read it in less than a month and coming from a kid who couldn't finish a magic tree house book in that time it was truly amazing. I loved the way this book captures mythology and keeps it interesting. The entire book is a page turner. I will forever love this book for how it changed how much I read now.
