“I hope someday you find someone worth coming out of your closet for, and I’m sorry as hell that it wasn’t me.”

It’s a good thing I’m into the story and that I like Tony a lot, because man do I dislike Mac, lol. I know he’s stuck in a shitty no-win situation, but wow is he extra sucky for no reason sometimes. I mean:
SpoilerYour boyfriend’s friend has just been murdered and he’s become the guardian for a traumatized 6 year old, and Mac’s first concern is the fact that he can’t fuck his boyfriend that night?? Garbage man moment. (And yes I realize that having had a secret relationship leads to a lot of intimacy and sex and maybe not a lot of other things, but damn, be better, lol.) I also can’t get behind the mindset that having a hateful, extremely religious ‘role model’ for your young child is better than no mother figure out all. Ridiculous.
Here’s hoping he starts redeeming himself soon.

The murder mystery in this one was really good again and it kept me interested all the way through. Also appreciate that there was more mortal peril. If a romantic suspense book doesn’t have a near-death experience, I don’t want it, lol.

Looking forward to seeing how the situation with Mac and his coworkers is in book 3. I’m hoping Tony interacts more with them.

“I’m not a stranger,” he growled, moving his mouth lower. “I’m your man and don’t you forget it.”

I don’t want to see you and I don’t want to hear your voice, and I don’t fucking want to have you stand up and tell a judge what a good person I am when you can’t even say you love me in private.

“Kiernan, this is a world- class ass.” He leaned forward and took a nip from the right cheek. “Glad you like it,” Kiernan replied, his voice slightly muffled by the bedding. “But you’ll forgive me if I’d rather you fucked it than waxed poetic about it.”

A psychic/medium character helping law enforcement solve crimes is literally my favorite plot/trope ever and I will never ever get tired of it. This book is exactly that and it’s so good. I read it a while back but got the audiobook recently and it was super well narrated. Definitely one I’d relisten to in the future.

It’s light ish on the romance with most of the focus on the murder mystery, but the romance (and spice) that’s there is great, and I think it fits the story well.

“I haven’t dry-humped since high school,” Kiernan murmured. “I’d forgotten how hot it is.” He paused. “And mildly chafing.”

Highly recommend if you enjoy some ghost-whispering

Generally, I don’t mind my loved ones treating me like a little cutie pie because I am and should be treated as such. Strangers though? They gotta earn that right.

What a delightfully funny and sweet book. I had a ton of fun reading it. It was perfectly Zile. He’s got such a fun writing style and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Now I want to read more ‘idiots in love’ style books, preferably with two disaster himbos like in this one.

Then he relaxes and sits on my lap facing me with his legs criss cross-applesauce. I’m not kidding. He really is small enough to do that, and I hold extra still so he’ll keep doing it.

Definitely recommend this one if you want a good time.

And perhaps the reason I was so drawn to extinction was that Bodhi represented the end of my life as I knew it.

Yooo, these books are actual crack cocaine. I could not put it down. Apparently I’m in the mood for angst and drama, because damn did this hit the spot. Ruined friendships, a forbidden relationship, a brat in trouble, trauma, real nice spice, snort-laugh comments, and much more. I still loved Whisper even more, but this one is a strong second.

The unexpected daddy kink was so good, and I loved that it started in the bedroom and evolved outside of it as the relationship grew and Bodhi got more comfortable. He’s hurting so much and is an absolute bratty menace (and mess), but you love him anyway. Coach was a really good person for Bodhi.

“Get bent, Daddy.”

I also love that both MCs, although quite far apart in age, have important, big stuff in common. Coach is also quite young in spirit, and in many ways only now moving on from trauma from when he was young, so although there definitely is a big age gap (19 years) and a power imbalance, it didn’t feel too bad once they got shirt sorted (eventually).

How pathetic to want comfort from the man who’d just hurt me.

Highly recommend. So good.

Other person drama: Bodhi goes drinking and dancing after a fight/hurt feelings/sort of broken up. He’s sad and drunk and dances with a man who feels him up. Once he’s drugged into a toilet for a hookup, he regrets it and runs away. He doesn’t want anyone other than Emmett. Surprisingly not angsty and I personally wasn’t bothered by although I usually would be. You can tell he’s just upset and acting out.

As it was, the narrow strip of his middle that was on full display was doing things to me that I was gonna have to pray about later. And no, I’m not a religious man, but everything about this kid made me feel like I had to repent.

Coach sighed. “I will not have a battle of wits with someone who is unarmed, Owens.”

I wasn’t ready. I was never ready for these moments with him to end. It just wasn’t enough. I needed more, too infected with insecurity for stolen moments and heated hookups to offer any lasting reprieve.

Man, I had such high hopes for this book, but it was absolutely torture to get through it at some points, and not because of the heavy subject matter. It needs another round with a proofreader and copyeditor. I had a really hard time immersing myself in the book because of all the mistakes, including typos of every kind, grammatical errors, the author mixing past and present tense in the same sentence, misspelling names twice in a row, oh and the timeline. That shit threw me off for nearly the entire book. Ari is dropped off at conversion camp at almost 17 years old. Three ish months later, he escapes. The book then tells you '9 months later', but in actuality, there's a three year jump in time! What the fudge happened there. Suddenly Ari is 20, not 18, and has been homeless for ages, not a couple of months. Quite a significant mix-up.

Honestly, at some point it felt like someone had put the entire book through Google Translate, which is an absolute shame, because I really wanted to love this book. I'm all for a really traumatic backstory with hurt/comfort. If you're someone that can overlook a general lack of proofreading and editing, go for it. I am not that person, lol.

I think a lot of the books contents were done 'right', and I think it suited the story and characters well that neither Ari or Paisley wanted a sexual relationship (in other words, if you want spice, this isn't the book for you). The first five or six chaptes are pretty detailed in all the sexual abuse and torture, so definitely take a gander at the content warning and take care of yourself while reading. All the mistakes aside, the book deals with serious subject matters.

34 pages and I made 24 highlights. This short story was incredibly entertaining and really funny. You won’t regret downloading this and reading it. It’s got that perfectly understated dry wit. Thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes & tags down below.

Attraction was one thing, and attractive he was, but personal space was also a thing, and apparently, Connor Telford had no sense of it.

I had an incredibly good time reading White Noise. I loved both MCs the same amount, which is honestly rare. They were both so well written, and the entire book was witty and smart from the first to the last page. I really love Sophia Soames’ writing style. It’s incredibly british and dry, it’s laugh-out-loud funny in places, and just feels very real. If you read this book or have read her previous work, you’ll know what I mean.

Matt. OK. There was something weird with Matt. Whenever I spent time with him, I behaved like a creep. I was constantly touching him. His face. His arms. And the things that came out of my mouth were totally off the wall.

I’m not one who usually thinks a lot about spice, other than ‘that was spicy’, but the intimacy and sex scenes in this book was a delight. The characters’ personalities still came through, they had fun and laughed (which was a treat to read), and their desperation and love for each other really shone through.

“You need to start wearing your own clothes, Con. We’re not the same size.”

It’s always nice to end a book and feel like it wasn’t missing anything. It delivered on everything I wanted along the way. The MCs made an instant connection, without being able to explain it immediately. They were definitely codependent, but I happen to love that. It wasn’t toxic in any way; the boys just needed each other. I loved it so much. Highly recommend if you want something witty with the sweetest lovestory.

“I snuck into his flat and crawled into his bed in the middle of the night because I couldn’t bear the thought of not sleeping next to him.”

“Come on,” I said, taking the flowers from him. “In you come.” I sounded like my granny, and not in a good way. Next, I’d be calling him poppet and force-feeding him stale sweets from the eighteenth century.

“He’s just a friend!” I snapped. “A good friend who's been helping me out.” “I’m sure he has,” Peter murmured. “Ohh!” Zara nodded knowingly. “That kind of friend then. The helpful kind.” Cue laughter. I was tempted to look around for a hidden camera.

“Come here,” I said and towed him over to the sofa. I got my suit jacket off and threw it on the floor, then tugged at him until he sat next to me. I’d only intended to initiate a friendly chat about where we both stood. Instead, he pretty much plonked himself on top of me and snuggled his face into my shoulder. I wasn’t complaining. Not at all. I hugged him, stroking my hands up and down his back.

Sometimes I read something that makes me go ‘wait, am I into this?’, and this time, all I can say is that I didn’t hate it, lol. New kink to me, as far as I can remember.

Cute and short little kinky novella with a totally sweet ending. Wouldn’t say HEA probably because no damn epilogue, but it’s not like you’d expect anything but a HEA either.

“Yeah, I feel good.” I smiled as I stood up. “I’ve been seeing someone, and things are going well.” “Is that right?” He flashed the first genuine smile I’d seen from the gruff man. “Good for you. What’s the little lady’s name?” Oh, um. Okay. “Well, his name is Jax.”

His mate scratched behind his ears, and Wulfric’s eyes drooped. “You’re just like a big puppy who loves pats.” Wulfric snapped his eyes open. He huffed. His mate laughed. “I’m sorry. You’re very scary. Very tough.”

A quick and somewhat entertaining read. I didn’t quite jibe with the writing in the beginning so it took me a moment to get into it. There were plenty of cute moments when Wulfric was shifted, but there wasn’t much of a plot I could get into.

Completely okay little book.

It loses a half star for winking assholes

I wasn't angelic as Tatum was. My skin was weather-worn, and a brown, bushy beard cascaded down my cheeks. My blue-gray eyes didn't sparkle in the sun like his. But Tatum appeared to like what he saw, judging by the slight blush of his cheeks and the way his tongue trailed across his bottom lip. “I feel like I'm gonna be sick,” he whispered. Wow, I misjudged that one.

I finished this a handful of days ago, and it was cute and a quick novella, but ultimately a little forgettable. Nothing wrong with it as it delivered on everything it said it would be, just not my favorite. I couldn’t resist the promise of a bear shifter and age play, though. Lots of cute moments for sure. The quote I added made me snort hard enough for extra points, lol.
