I threw my dragon’s dignity out the window. I became something baser, a creature even more primal and crazed—a fanboy.
Another wildly entertaining book in this series. I am seriously enjoying Hawke Oakley's writing and storytelling. They're sweet and uncomplicated, fun and sweet, and hot. Matteo is a very ambitious character (tries to blow an actual dragon with a huge dong), but also likes to blend into the background. He has experienced being the center of attentio before and isn't that keen on doing it again. He just wants to find his fated mate.
Thystle is an actual emo dragon, which is both hilarious and adorable. This series is so relaxing and a nice break from reality. I'm already over halfway through book 3, and can't wait to continue. Definitely recommend.

Whoever said dragons were dignified never met a really horny one.
He angled his neck to stare at my hemipenes curiously. “So, are those going in next?” I snorted. “No.” He sounded a bit disappointed. “Why not?” “Because unless you want to turn into a Matteo-kebab, it’s physically impossible,” I explained.
“Thanks for saving my life. I was actually about to walk out into the ocean if one more stranger talked to me.”
Even my legendary whinging couldn’t stand up to the brute force of a cute baby.

My fingers curled securely around his lithe waist, almost touching at the tips.
This book brings a whole new meaning to riding dick, and there’s a literal bucket of dragon jizz. Fun times were had.
Strange spice aside, this is my favorite in the series so far. Cobalt is a huge protective alpha dragon who sometimes gives a bit slow/neanderthal vibes, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. He’s just big and sweet. Muzo is a tiny, positive, bouncy ball of sunshine. He’s super kind and takes life in his stride, even when life tries to trip him up. Knowing both characters from previous books I have to admit I didn’t quite understand why they would be paired together, but it made total sense eventually. They were perfect together.
He was so adorably clueless and weirdly innocent, like a caveman stepping into the modern world.
Did I mention the size difference? *fans self*
The first book I’ve read where someone says ‘that’s not gonna fit’ and it actually doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong, most of it fits, but not all, lol.
I continue to miss a bit more time spent in shifter form, but these books are just too fun even without it. There’s at least cute and fun mannerisms from their shifter animals.
I am sooo excited for what I think will be Viol and Poppy’s book

“I’m pretty fucking tempted to take you over my knee!” Nostrils flaring, chest heaving, Nico jutted out his chin. “I dare you.”
Famous last words
Keira Andrews has that special something that can make me read something completely out of my comfort zone. This one has lots I was excited about, but I generally avoid sports romance. But come on, how was I supposed to resist a book with a young, closeted hotheaded rookie and the veteran player newly traded to his team who said rookie had a massive crush on as a teenager? With spanking and a mild D/s dynamic in bed? I simply could not.
Nico is under a lot of pressure, from himself, his family, the team and the fans. He makes himself sick with nerves before every game, he struggles with internalized homophobia, has repeatedly tried to sleep with women in order to ‘be normal’ (his words), and had never planned on touching a man. Then in walks Jake, and their chemistry on and off the diamond is just too much for them to resist. They just made so much sense together.
This could have easily been horribly angsty, but it ended up being okay. That doesn’t mean it was angst free, but I thought the themes were handled well. Nico talking with his father made me cry a lot. A lot.
I would’ve liked an epilogue set a tad further into the future, but overall it was good.

Other person drama: The first chapter starts with Nico right after a hookup with a woman. There are no details, and the woman is nice. It’s there to show Nico’s relationship/struggle with his own sexuality. After the MCs meet again, they briefly spot each other while Nico is out to dinner with a woman. They just say hi to each other, no details about what happens with her. Neither of them see anyone else after being together the first time. Jake’s previous FWB is still a friend, so when Nico overhears them talking on video chat, there’s a situation with jealousy, but they talk it out. Jake was previously in love with his best friend and ended up driving him away. There is no current romantic feelings between them.

He’d waited so long to say it out loud that Nico was suddenly struck by a soul-shaking tremor of fear, panic rising that if he didn’t get all the words out now, they’d somehow be swallowed too deep to ever surface. “I’m queer.” Nodding, Jake murmured, “That’s it, baby.” Tears burned Nico’s eyes. “I’m gay. I want cock. Always have. Always will.”
Marco’s forehead creased. “Fitz? What’s he got to do with it?” The other shoe apparently dropped, and his eyes widened. “Wait, Fitz is gay too? Holy shit, is everyone gay? How big is that closet?”
“That’s human nature, right? We don’t want something, but tell us we can’t have it—whoa, that changes everything. Whether we’re five or fifty.”

Was it bad of me to like a bit of jealousy? To want to drive Mori so out of his mind that he’d go all caveman and stake his claim on me? If that made me bad, I never wanted to be good. I wanted to be owned. Possessed.
Damn, this one really had everything and I hecking loved all of it. It was a little sad, had some solid angst, good groveling, super sexy with physical wrestling as foreplay, external action, etc. Just the full package. River is a snarky power-bottom mage who knows exactly what he wants. He's a little reckless, a lot powerful, and he wants Mori. Mori is the silent and stoic type, a thick lumberjack-y redhead who is deathly afraid of putting his heart on the line again after losing his partner many decades before.
They are both flawed and it takes them a moment to figure out their dynamic, to really *accept* it, but once they do it's just fireworks. They rile each other up and love to fight for domination in bed, which usually leads to River having trouble sitting down the next day, but that's exactly how he likes it.
It was just 100% entertaining and hot, but also set up future books. Can't wait to get to know Lucky and find out what the huyck is going on with Dimitri and Dagon.

After fussing over the cat for an obscene amount of time, River stalked back into the room and plopped onto my lap. “Oof,” I said. “Stop throwing yourself on me like you’re a twink. You’re literally the same size as me.”
Cue more guilt. With the amount I now had laying on my shoulders, you’d be forgiven for assuming I was Catholic.
I scanned the selection with my lips pursed. What would Lucifer’s grumpy and utterly fuckable son like in his mouth? Aside from my dick, of course. I mean, he didn’t want it now, but give me time.
“Tasting, you say?” Mori’s tongue flicked over his lips. “Yes. Straddle my face. Sit on me. Suffocate me. Let me bury my tongue deep inside you while you ride my mouth.”

“Once I’m gone, I want you to remember one thing.” “Okay,” Rick croaked out, his throat clogged with pleas for Kai to stay. “I never asked you to change.”
Not really sure what to say about this one. I love Kiki Clark and this book has all the right ingredients that I usually love, but somehow I still didn’t love it. I’m not sure I can accurately say why. It was just a little underwhelming, and the plot relied heavily on a lack of communication which didn’t help.
There were some cute moments and I do want to continue the series, but overall not my favorite by this author, unfortunately.
Also, I have a real bone to pick with shifter books where there’s little to no shifting. What’s the point then?
Kirt Graves did a good job with the audiobook tho.

“You deserve someone who’ll take care of you, and I’ve wanted to be that person for a long time. I’ll give you what you need, and you’ll be mine. Understand?”
I enjoyed this one more than book 1. It had a unique plot point where one MC suffers emotionally and physically because of a missing connection with his pack, and I thought that was neat. It was a sweet and slow romance as well, which I often prefer. I do wish we got to know Bennett better, as most of the focus was (understandably) on Kieran.
I’m being good and reading this series in order to get the overarching plot, which also means I get to see more of the side characters throughout, which is cool. I’m curious about the next book, surprisingly enough.
Entertaining and sweet with good narration, but I’m once again complaining about the lack of shifting in a shifter book.

I’m trying this new thing called ‘writing short reviews’, so here goes:
*cracks knuckles*
The first half of the book the main characters are mad at each other for various reasons, some founded and some absolutely childish, and for the second half they fuck. A lot.
Sometimes cute, irritated me a lot, and I can for sure say that feet don’t do it for me.
Nick J. Russo whimpered a lot, which made me squirm. Not necessarily in a good way.

This is heaven. He has never given heaven much thought. Never questioned whether or not it exists, but this is it. Here, in the warm firelight of this bedroom and kissing Haruka, is absolute paradise.
With a cover this freaking beautiful and a blurb that speaks to me like this one did, actually feeling like the content lives up to the expectations is rare, but this turned out to be even better than I hoped. Without a doubt my new favorite vampire romance, and I haven’t even read book 2 yet. The characters were both complicated and felt like complete, complex people. The development of their relationship was so gosh darn charming and believable. Their chemistry was off the charts, and every kiss and touch between them gave me butterflies and had me kicking my feet with giddiness.
Nearly every book I read is spicy, but this one was full of intimacy and sensuality. It just brought a completely different level to the sex, and it was a real treat to read.
I would have loved to learn more about the vampire species in general, just the general lore, you know? But even with not knowing everything, it was brilliant. What a talented writer, and I can’t wait to read more. So happy I discovered these!
Haruka rests his body down against him, exhaling a muffled moan from the satisfaction of his own arousal being pressed into Nino’s naked warmth. They slow the rhythm of the kiss, the affection turning more playful as they lie together against the cool sheets.

(Haruka doesn’t exercise at all though. He hates it. Especially running. He told Nino that running should be strictly reserved for emergencies.).
“Please do not try so hard to alter yourself,” Haruka says. As he speaks, Nino lifts his head and opens his vivid eyes. “I feel that you are lovely now. Just as you are.”
Happiness feels so foreign to him. Awkward—as if he’s suddenly wearing his shoes on the wrong feet. He doesn’t know how to settle into this feeling.
What is he supposed to do? How can he stop this feeling from consuming him? He knew it was there from the moment he first met Haruka—like the tiniest ember glowing deep within him. Now, the ember is a full-grown flame and he doesn’t know how to snuff it out.
Everything about Haruka registers as cool and refreshing. As if nature has uniquely cultivated him from its most beautiful elements—spring rain, the starry midnight skies and roses in full bloom.

“Someone else is always telling the world what I am, and it’s never true.”
I really enjoyed book 1, but I really loved book 2. I knew it would be heavy going in, but there's not a lot that I enjoy more than good, gritty mental health representation in books, especially romance. Ezra and Harley are *so* solid together, but that does not mean they have it easy. They've been thrust into extreme fame and chaos very quickly, at a very young age. Harley has very recently gotten away from his abusive father, met and fell in love with Ezra in book 1, only to be completely trapped all over again, just in a different way. It's a horrible situation, but the bandmates are closer than ever, and the same can be said for the MCs relationship.
“The more I think about that house, I want to be happy about it. Because we can have that someday. There has to be an end to all of this, right? It has to get easier.”
It was heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measure to see them help each other through this mess, but when we started to see the cracks in Ezra's composure as well, that really hurt. I was told before reading that this one was angsty and painful, which I suppose it is in some ways, but I was actually expecting it to be angstier. Angst is so subjective though, so I don't want to downplay that this is heavy and deals with anxiety, uncertainty, controlling behavior and manipulation from a third party pretty much throughout the entire book. You can tell that the author is knowledgeable when it comes to mental health, and it was not at all romanticized.
This one was pretty high in the spice department, especially when it comes to frequency, but we are after all dealing with 19/20 year old men, so I suppose that tracks, lol. Ollie brought the humor as expected, and it's so important to have those lighthearted moments in a book like this. He is such a precious character, and I desperately want to see him in a throuple with Ian and Ben. That boy needs a keeper or two.
“Oh my god,” I mutter around a mouthful of pasta. “This is fucking delicious.” “Ezra,” Mom tsks me. “Sorry,” I chuckle. “Yours is obviously better.” “That’s not what I meant,” Mom rolls her eyes and Dad and I laugh.
This story is very easy to fall in love with, as well as the characters. I can't wait to see these guys get their HEA in book 3, and can definitely recommend the trilogy.

Arlo didn’t have time for the breakdown he truly deserved. He had to get away with murder first.
I’ve had this novella sitting on my kindle for aaaages. I don’t really know why I didn’t read it sooner, but it was a nice, short and entertaining addition to the Necessary Evils series. Arlo and Dimitri were really cute together, and I liked that the book only spanned about 24 hours. It was like we could feel the time crunch they were on to get away with murder while at the same time finally getting together.
They had both been pining after each other for years. Arlo was stuck in a bad habit of one bad and abusive relationship after another, and Dimitri was being a good little psychopath, waiting his turn and not meddling.
“Chop-chop, young lovers. There’s fuckery afoot.”
It was a lot of fun to see more of Calliope (Dimitri’s mom) and that entire dynamic, which was equally funny and sweet. I wish we got even more of it. Tons of protective and obsessive vibes, a couple hot smutty scenes, some action and some gore. Perfect as per usual.

“Holden was a real shitbag.” “Well, hopefully, that means nobody will miss him.” “His family is going to miss him,” Arlo swore, swallowing the sudden lump of fear in his throat. “He’s rich. Rockefeller rich. And his dad is a federal judge.” Once more, there was a slight delay, and then Dimitri’s mom exploded. “You’ve got to be kidding me. What the fuck, Dimitri? The president wasn’t available to assassinate? There wasn’t a royal in town you could publicly guillotine?”
