I really liked the storyline for this book. Admittedly, I felt that it was quite a slow start and couldn't get into it. However, I persevered and I'm so glad that I did as it was such an enjoyable read. I was notnexpecting any of the plot twists.

I felt that the character development was spot on for the main characters and I really liked the Celtic representation, as I haven't read many books that have focused on celtic lore and mythology.

I loved  the storyline. And how the bool kept you guessing. I had predicte  thenplotntwist early on in the book, but then doubted myself so was surprised when it had gone the way I had initially expected.

I have so many questions I NEED the conclusion to this duology

Overall this story was enjoyable and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I liked the character development and I was not expecting the plot twists, particularly toward the end.

I was surprised at just how much inspo had been taken from this book to write powerless though.
slow-paced

OK so this book was really slow, and not much happened until towards the end. However, I have heard that the series overall is good and the second book is better. It is typical for the first book of a series to be predominantly concerned with scene setting so I won't write it off just yet.

The book has lots of swearing in, and some of the scenes aren't for the lighthearted.

There are strong themes of oppression against women, however, I have a feeling that this series will predominantly contain kick ass feminine energy so watch this space.

Whilst I did have some niggles about this book. The emotions it caused made this a 5 star read without a doubt.

The story follows Corvina, an outcast and her teacher, Vad, and their forbidden romance. With some strange, seemingly paranormal activity.

It was my first gothic read, and it really did not disappoint. The spice was nice, but the plot twist was nicer and something I never saw coming.

I wish it was a series as I wasn't ready for it to end!!!

Such a touching and sad story, yet at the same time, romantic and laugh out loud funny.

This book had me feeling all the feelings, something of an emotional roller coaster.

This book is primarily character driven, and whilst a high stakes immersive plot takes a back seat to what I usually go for, this novel did not disappoint. I was so invested in Johnny  and Shannon's (like the river) story, I literally could not put it down.

Just a word of warning to read the trigger warnings as emotional resilience is required and a note that the story ends on a cliffhanger.

Prelude of Fire

Christine E. Schulze

DID NOT FINISH: 10%

I felt like there was too much happening too soon in the first 2 chapters and the prelude of the book, there were a lot of characters introduced in a short space of time and I struggled to remember who everybody was and how they were connected. In addition to this the beginning seemed busy, I had to keep flitting back to confirm my comprehension.

I didn't relate to the FMC, whilst, I understand she is young, she appeared quite immature for her age, despite wanting to go on a rather mature adventure.

I felt like too much and not enough was happening at the same time.

There are a few things that I really appreciated from the book though as well:

Firstly, I LOVE a map. And I really liked the guide that accompanied this, I felt it was very unique and I wish I saw this more often.

The blurb is intriguing, making the reader want to read more

The cover is just beautiful.

I really liked the Zelda quest style vibes I was getting from the story.

I loved this book. All of the twisted and turns. I loved the budding romance between the main characters. I felt that it was written in a style that made for an East read.
THe narration was spot on. Admittedly, I was surprised by the male narrators voice, but I think his voice did suit the MC.

Very pleased
