Can I just say that I loved these lines:
"Then I tell the Feds who the transformation worker is.
That really doesn't go well." (p.238)
I believe the term ROTFLMAO is appropriate here. ;-)

This fantasy novel is not just your ordinary fairy tale. The main character isn't perfect, and doesn't always make the right decisions, but is still a Good Guy (yes, with capitals). I also really liked that he didn't fall in love with the princess in the end. And that there's room for sequels and the storyline promises something incredibly interesting. Fortunately my bookstore has these books in stock so I know what I will be reading on my way home.
I can't believe people call this literature. I couldn't stop thinking: "Get over it already!"
Well, the first pages are a bit slow, but after that the story picks up speed. It's hard to put the book away (which is why I've just finished the book at 2.33 AM when I've got to get up at 6...). I really can't wait to get started on the third book of the series, but it's downstairs and it's probably wise to get some sleep before I have to go to work in a couple of hours.
p.s. I'm really starting to like Sir Alec, I think Gerald, Monk, Melissande, Bibbie and Reg need someone like him to keep things from getting too much out of hand.
