It was a bit too melodramatic for me and I did not like the main character. The story and the symbolism were alright. The writing reminded me of Candide by Voltaire.

I did not expect who the killer was.

I hate that this book was published in 2015 and that so little has changed. Black Lives Matter.

I did really enjoy The Ballad of Reading Gaol, but I'm not familiar with many of the people used in the other poems (the Greek/Roman mythological characters). I may enjoy it more once I've read the Iliad and the Odyssey.
