For the THOUSANDTH time...GOODREADS NEEDS HALF STARS!!!!!

This book is a solid 4.5 star effort. I dropped off the half star because I gave both Horns and Heart Shaped Box 5 stars and I liked those just a BIT better. But come on...in reality Joe Hill is Joe hill. I always look forward to anything the man gives us.

Loved the concept and the telling of the tale is superb.

As I read, I tried to figure out if I would want to be infected or clean. If it meant I could spend time with Harper, John, Allie, and Nick, I say bring on the Dragonscale.

Thank you Joe Hill, for another excellent book...can't wait for the next one.

Solid 3.5.

Seeing the civil war through the eyes of four women, two Union, two Confederate, the book gives a rare glimpse of four women who chose not to simply sit tat home and wait for the soldiers to return.Their spying and influence had quite an impact on some pretty important battles.

Only complaint is a touch too much emphasis of the words of the women themselves. Two of the four wrote books for profit after the war, their tendency to exaggerate is not subtle.

But you do get a sense for what these women accomplished for their respective side during the war.

This was a very enjoyable book.

8.5 Tarot cards out of 10.

4.5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. I had heard of Knight, but had never read his story. The trailer for the movie drove me to pick up the book.

It gets a bit dry at points, but I will never tire of the era. Newt was quite a mix of personality traits, compassionate in one breath and brutal as hell the next.

A great look into a moment in time, a horrible moment in time to be sure. But a moment that needs to be remembered, now maybe more than ever.

9 bales of cotton out of 10.

A good story presented in an interesting and fun way.

Not my favorite...

An interesting take...
