Thoroughly enjoyed this Disney Villains story revolving around Cruella De Ville. I always found her interesting and wanted a look into her past to see how she ended up the way she did, and this was a perfect back story. Definitely would recommend.
Not my usual read but I really enjoyed it. The format was easy to read, the characters were likable - even if I didn't like them to begin with, they grew on me. I felt each woman's story, and felt drawn to each of their struggles and dreams and couldn't wait to see who would end up pregnant. It was a great book I would definitely recommend.
Cute, quick read. I'm a sucker for a book involving the wedding planning business as I worked in it for years and it just brings back a lot of nostalgia. There were quite a few things that I liked about this book originally—the Jewish representation and how the main character had OCD being two of the main points that come to mind as I haven't read too many —but as the book went on, I started finding things that made me not enjoy the books as much which is there the docked stars come in. First off, the pacing was slightly off at some times, it made it so it was hard to push through some parts.
My biggest issue though was the questionable Muslim representation. (I preface this by saying I am NOT Muslim, therefore I can’t say what is and isn’t good representation, however I also know the author is not Muslim, which is why I will be critiquing this). While I enjoyed the sex-positive aspect of this book, it felt strange that the Muslim love interest is depicted as having sex, with two separate people as well. He engaged in a ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement with the main character. While I’m not Muslim myself, this stood out to me, and as I read some online reviews, I saw this as an issue for other readers as well.
All in all, I did end up enjoying the book, I just had a few, issues so to speak.

This book was different to what I had expected, but not necessarily in a bad way. It is a love story, but, with a different twist. The story is slow moving but that it works well for this type of scenario. Nell is a counsellor working at a telephone helpline charity. She is a bubbly personality most of the time, but has issues with her ex , Joel. She meets Charlie in a café and gradually they become friends though there are complications on the way. The story was sad at times, and at times it had me laughing out loud. The emotions the characters feel are well described - you truly understand what the characters are feeling and why. All in all, I enjoyed the book and would recommend.
Laura Jane Williams does it again. I picked up one of her other novels (Our Stop) on a cover buy whim and I was pleasantly surprised by Williams' writing style. In The Lucky Escape, the author again does not disappoint. I absolutely loved this, everything about it was all I ever want in a romance book and it was the exact read I needed at that moment in time. I devoured every page and couldn't put it down. The characters were instantly likeable and relatable. To classify this novel as a romance is neglecting all the other wonderful aspects of this book. While yes, the romance is there and made my knees weak and my heart race, there is also these absolutely amazingly cultivated friendships and elements of family dynamic that are just such wonderful additions to this book. The book moved at a comfortable pace, and kept my interest from start to finish. Laura Jane Williams slays again, and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a new contemporary romance to binge.
