I think Wicked King is probably my fave out of this series, even tho I loved all of them.

Jude has Cardan under her reins for a year and a day, as time ticks by, schemes are brewing again. There's betrayal, action, politics, a bit of romance, heartache, and darkness.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this series. I loved it. 

 Silver in the Bone was a solid first-person POV, urban fantasy revolving around Arthurian legends.

- curses & magic
- a good mix of Arthurian mentions, coupled with a sort of Magical Academy
- a bit of rivals/enemy to lovers back to enemies?????
- magical objects and rituals
- dark ya fantasy

I think this book benefited from being only in Tamsin's view, you only know what she knows. You don't know anybody else's motives or actions except what they tell Tamsin. I enjoy when a book does that. I loved the homage to classic Arthurian legends and weaving them into the story Bracken wants to tell. It gives off ancient magic vs modern magic vibes, while Tamsin being a mortal without an affinity to things the characters have naturally. I can't wait for the next book in the series, especially with that cliffhanger. I hope Bracken takes the time to make it just as great as this one. <3 

It took me forever to finally finish this duology. A lot of the times, I felt like I wasn't in the mood to read this but I'm glad I stuck through on the last time I picked it up.

This was a great ending to the tales in Arawiya, to Zafira, Nasir, & Altair. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book.

I don't have much else to say about this book, I enjoyed my time with it and I pulled an all nighter to finish it so, do with that what you will. 

This was an okay read, I'm sure some people will love it. But it was way too insta-lust and insta-lovey for me. And to be completely honest, it was way to similar to the royal family it felt like a fan fic of them.

Pros: it was an easy read and quick to get through lol

I have not had the best of luck with contemporary romances this year, so this just adds on to the list of why I'm tending not to pick them up anymore lol

Read for All of Us Bookworms bookclub for May. 

I didn't know what to expect with this read, but I'm glad I picked it up for Monster Manor's bookclub!!

Dorian is such a well rounded character with flaws. He battles living with grief, well really avoiding it at all costs, shoving people away even those he loves. It's such a well written character who deals with the loss of a loved one, often dwelling on the past, trying to prevent a future, and not living in the present. You experience the story through his point of view alone and slowly watch him unravel his emotions he's held for years with the help of his on & off again partner Milo & his students.

Milo is a wonderful ray of sunshine in this otherwise super dark magic academy / political atmosphere. His banter with Dorian and the love he has for him is so good!!!! You learn about him and Dorian's other partner, how they met, how they grew together, their dreams and the things that led to the present.

All the students are well thought out and contribute something to the story, you really delve into the past of only a handful of students in this first book, so I'm hoping to see how the second semester goes in this series!! It may be hard to keep track of at first since there is twelve of them, but its absolutely worth the read.

The last 20% had me on edge with the amount of action and not knowing where it was going, but it was so good!! I'll definitely be on the look out for the sequel! <3 

 I think this book would be a great read for both scholars and for those that just enjoy history.

Although the writing is very much academic, this book gives insight to why the myths and fantasies of female spies are so pervasive even into modern history and media. Women who don't fit into the paradoxical roles of women of their time are often shrugged off and feared for their blending of perceived male & female roles. This books uses war time accounts, uses memoirs from those who were active during the first world war in occupied Belgium, as well as spy "writers and historians" that helped shape these myths.

It took me a good minute to finish this read because it is very much a scholarly read but I really enjoyed learning about how most intelligence agencies and resistences were founded by the "invisible" women of the time that didn't see the fame like that of martyrs or seductresses of the state.

I do however want to point out that the author does tend to repeat herself a lot, which is very off putting even tho the subject matter is interesting. 

This was my last read for May and it did not disappoint!

Everybody who knows me and my book tastes, know that I love my gothic reads. I love the distress, the despair, the setting, etc. I've been putting off PotO for so long and I regret it cause I absolutely loved it. I read this in one sitting and couldn't put it down.

Erik is a madman but I love him.

This is going at the top of my fave classic gothic novels. 

I'm officially apologizing to all my bookish mutuals that have told me repeatedly that I would love Cruel Prince and not listening to them by pushing it off as much as possible.

I was scared this book would not live up to the hype everybody puts around it. But, I love the political intrigue, the characters, the setting. A mortal with in the fae world, trying to live as one. I do love Jude and I love Cardan, hell I even like Madoc. Taryn maybe not so much, I could not stand her at all, at any point of the story lol

But, I want to say I finished this book as well in one sitting. It did not disappoint. I loved it and I'll be reading Wicked King and Queen of Nothing soon <3 

I love when an author gets into a time period and does heavy research and it shows, then adds an intriguing story into the mix. Like nothing makes me more happy reading his-fic when that happens. 

I rarely get into coming of age stories, but I really enjoyed this one. I loved reading Lily and Kat getting closer, getting to know each other. Lily discovering more things about herself as she goes out into the San Francisco night life with Kat. Something about this made me happy and I still think about it. Also, if you happen to listen to audiobooks, Emily Woo Zeller narrates this story and that was super enjoyable. It's a combination of things, that made me really like this one. I don't think I even have any complaints tbh.
