I normally don't rate historical non-fic, but I've decided to do so on approachability and accessibility to the topic. I do believe that people who enjoy non-fic would find this book gripping, it's an absolute page turner and I think people who major in history and other areas can approach this book alike.

This book focuses on the partition of India and Pakistan and between their two leaders Nehru and Jinnah. It also focuses on the tensions between Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims; the wars between the vying religious areas; and the people affected by the partition.

I found this book to be entertaining, while learning about a subject I'm less familiar with. This book does use more secondary sources than primary sources, so that is something to consider when taking in the info this book provides.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book, I think McCurdy did well narrating. This one was a rough listen just simply due to the topics at hand.

I don’t think I’d recommend this for everybody, not because it isn’t good but because these topics are so heavy and literally start from chapter one and doesn’t stop until the end so.. please check the content warnings for this book before giving it a listen/read!

CW: alcoholism, anxiety, panic attacks, cancer, death, grieving, child abuse, anorexia, bulimia, emesis, fat phobia, graphic sexual scenes, etc.

I can't explain how much I love finding modern gothic lit, this serves every essence of gothic classics into a new story. Think Jane Eyre if it were more deranged and unhinged and you get the Death of Jane Lawrence.

Death of Jane is definitely a slow-burn gothic romance with body horror, heighten emotions, the supernatural - all the works. So, I wouldn't recommend this to people who don't enjoy the gothic genre, especially slow-paced gothic lit. But, to those that do I'd definitely recommend this <3

Owl's Crown is a fast-paced, supernatural romance with the fated/bound mate trope and I loved every second of it! It had lost of action, magic, tension, and just the right amount of spice! You have Evie, who's a witch and Lawrence, a vampire who are destined to meet with crazy circumstances. They're then led on to a wild chase of events through out the book. I loved Evie and Lawrence's interactions together and the book is so quotable I highlighted a lot of parts <3

So, if you like all things supernatural and want something fast-paced with some romance - definitely pick this one up!

Disclaimer: I received The Owl's Crown as an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

Cosmina is set in the world of Cantamen, where everybody has an affinity to magic and some an affinity to dark magic. This book is a medium-fast pace fantasy with a lot of action. It is heavily plot driven. You follow codenames: Cosmina, Nix, and others across many places in Cantamen and eventually to Earth in their quest to be a more proactive group against Council Witches who hold those with an affinity to dark magic prisoners (amongst other things).

Personally, I struggled to get through this book - mostly because it didn't focus on characters long enough for me to hold interest. I prefer a character-driven story, especially when it comes to a fantasy book. I loved Nix and Cosmina though. I wish I could've read more of them.

I'd recommend this to people who love a plot-driven fantasy, fade to black romance, major action-adventure with magic involved.

CW: injuries, murder, suicide, suicidal ideation, depression, PTSD

Disclosure: I received Cosmina as an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

It's been a while since I've read Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare! I honestly had fun reading this with the art making it come to life in a sense. I loved the manga art and it was funny seeing Romeo and Juliet look like ordinary anime romance protags. This version kept the full play intact but the translation is more modernized. I truly enjoyed this!!

I'd definitely recommend this to anybody who loves this tragic play by William Shakespeare and likes manga/anime.

I received Manga Classics: Romeo and Juliet through NetGalley and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
