I thought this was a good sci-fi/fantasy mixed book! In a world where you have humans and the made ones. It was a tense read - full of revenge, hatred, mystery, and passion. I thought the lgbt representation was just natural in this book and that’s a bonus. I think the only gripe I have with this book is the pacing. Although things were happening throughout each chapter, it felt like it took over half the book before something major happened. I’d also recommend this book to anybody that likes a slow-burn, enemies to lovers romance!
*4.5 Star*
Yeena is weeks away from her debut as a matron. She hasn't claimed anybody as her consort yet and is visiting her friend Hiro who she thinks she may choose to be her consort. When somebody from the Andan area is found crossing borders into Nakoya and is being held prisoner, Yeena offers to translate for the Nakoyans and offers a solution that will change both the prisoner's life and Yeena's.
I really enjoyed Storm to Spring and the interactions Yeena has with everybody. She is a strong matron to be but has her flaws. I waited for the moments between Yeena and Yijeong so much and that's what made me finish the book. I love the sarcastic banter and slow-burn romance between the two. I also enjoyed learning about Miang, Andan, and Naoya lands' history. I love the elemental magic of each area and learning the abilities of all the characters in the story.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to people who love political intrigue, slow-burn romance, banter between love interests, lgbtq+ representation, & east and southeast asian influenced fantasy. The only complaint I have were super long chapters but I enjoyed the book otherwise <3

This was such a cute contemporary romance read! I loved both Dhalia and London, the reality cooking show setting, and the steamy moments!! The book is dual POV so you get to see the story and the romance from both point of views and I loved that aspect too!
This book has non-binary, pansexual, and queer rep ❤️
Highly recommend it to the people that like contemporary romances with a smidge of steam, lgbtq rep, food, cooking reality shows, & wholesomeness ❤️
CW: characters coming out, struggling with un-acceptance, misgendering, transphobia, divorce, anxiety, depression, existential crisis, struggling with body image

the crew meets up with JasDevi and you see Krory in a one on one battle which is pretty cool! They’re still trying to escape the ark at this point, but overall still pretty good and action packed the past few volumes!

This book truly had every element of a classic gothic novel, set in the countryside of Mexico in the 1950s. The gloom really did embody the atmosphere of this book. You have the damsel in distress, heightened emotions, and the age old order to the house. I'd highly recommend this to people who love gothic literature. It is dark, mysterious, and entrancing in a sense lol There are content warnings with every gothic tale and this one is no different. I really liked this book, it was slow at first to introduce the characters and setting of the story, but the ending made up for it to me at least. Also, every time Howard Doyle was mentioned and the more I got through the story- I pictured him looking like Grandpa Sawyer from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The only likable Doyle is Francis and Catalina since she was married in. Also, Silvia Moreno-Garcia wove in colonialism, eugenics, racism, and even faith into this 300 page book. This book scratched my itch for a Gothic story.
