TSP ponders the classic question: why does a good woman just kill her husband one day? This read will take you for a psychological roller coaster ride unlike any other. If you love Stephan King or Riley Sager, then this is the book for you! Only 3% of BOTM users marked this book as a ‘disliked’ title, and it deservingly was a BOTM Book of the Year finalist

If you’re looking for a book that’ll take you through more twists than you can count, @colleenhoover’s #verity is just the read for you. With two writers and three liars in the mix, anything can happen

So this is the first book I’ve read by Sager, and he’s gained another fan. This has the classic slasher film aesthetic, but the plot goes beyond what Friday the 13th could offer. Filled with complex characters, secrets, and a touch of murder, this book is perfect for the Halloween season or to just read by a camp fire

Now let me tell you, I was completely annoyed by One Direction when this book came out on Wattpad. A friend recommended I give it a chance anyway, and I fell in love. This is a series that has made me experience falling in love with some as broken as Hardin/Harry, having my heart completely shattered, only for him to put it back together as he healed himself. I don’t typically reread series, but I’ve read this one multiple times. I can’t recommend this book enough, and that’s how I wore out my first printed copy of #after

Remember ya’ll- the movies were WAY different than the books. They left out everything basically that gave #hessa depth and soul. Don’t judge the book by the movie

Hoffman creates characters that are believable, and adds just enough magic that it all feels really possible. With a dead boyfriend, three generations of sisters, and a little witchcraft, this book will leave you wanting to go hug your own sister. So throw some salt over your shoulder and enjoy a great read for spooky season ✨

Mexican Gothic is the perfect read for the upcoming stormy weather. Socialite Noemí finds herself seeking for the truth in deep, dark, and dangerous places. The imagery of the small village in rural Mexico is so vivid that the damp air may feel suffocating to readers. Summoning her inner Poe, Moreno-Garcia will leave you questioning your sanity. Follow along as Noemí, ever the fun-loving party girl, as she sets out to save her cousin. If you love the mysterious horror associated with Poe, or the rainy day vibes of R.L. Stine growing up, this is the perfect read for you

Okay, so this one was actually as sweet as candy. I loved how realistic the concerns of Rhys and Vivienne are, as well as how deeply they love. This is the perfect Halloween read, especially for fans of Practical Magic. With murderous toys, ghosts, and more than a touch of magic, Sterling takes you on a quest that is too addictive not to finish

Saffron and Alexander’s off-the-books investigation of the attempted murder of Mrs. Henry (a faculty member’s wife) will keep readers hooked from start to finish. Although the characters frequently reference plants by their scientific names, it can still be easily understood by the average reader. This historical fiction, with the smallest pin prick of romance, utilizes many of the well-loved tropes of mystery novels without losing its individuality

This was by far one of the best books I read in 2018. I found myself falling in love with the characters, and I could just picture them going around the marsh. This book manages to romanticize the nature of the south while showing the harmful attitudes of the people. This book made me feel like I was able to steal a peak into the world my grandfather grew up in, as he confirmed this book reflected his experience as a man born in Louisiana in the 40s. Owen’s portrayal is ultimately as breath taking as the town’s treatment of Kya is heartbreaking. I could not recommend this read more. I still swear I can here the noises of the wildlife and see the lightning bugs flying through the air when I think of this story

I absolutely LOVED this one. Evelyn brings the film industry to life across multiple decades, and ultimately highlights the cut-throat reality of trying to survive in it. The book covers the struggles that come with acting such as heart break, the lack of privacy, and the difficulties of balancing the life of a star with being a good wife and mother. Evelyn is a protagonist that you can’t help but love no matter how terrible she behaves. There are some serious Marilyn Monroe vibes coming off Evelyn; she is bad, she is smart, and she is most agreeably one of the most sexy women in classic Hollywood
