The Full Moon Coffee Shop is a creative and lighthearted read. This is the story of a magical coffee shop that only appears under a full moon. I enjoyed the personalities of the cats and the inclusion of star charts. This book would be perfect for readers who enjoy cozy stories with interesting characters. Very cute!

Not Another Love Song is the latest from Julie Soto and one of my favorite books so far this year! I love the idea of a romance between rival musicians playing together in a symphony and Soto completely pulls it off. I loved the progression of the relationship between Gwen and Xander- from dislike to friends to lovers. The musical scenes were vivid and filled with tension (especially the scene with the cello!). The chemistry between Gwen and Xander was masterfully crafted.
Soto also incorporates grief, complex power dynamics between mentors, and the importance of understanding contracts. I really enjoyed the side characters and their witty banter. Not Another Love Song is steamy, filled with heart and soul, and not to be missed. Readers who enjoy Ali Hazelwood, Rosie Danan, and Abby Jimenez will love this book. I can’t wait to see what Julie Soto writes next!

Heir, Apparently picks up right where The Prince & The Apocalypse left off. I am so glad there is a sequel! I was very curious how the story would continue at the end of book one. While the imminent threat of worldwide destruction is no longer, danger seems to follow Wren and Theo. When they are reunited against the palace’s wishes, neither of them are prepared for another life-threatening disaster binding them together. As they fight to survive on an isolated tropical island with the clock ticking, will Wren get the answers she’s looking for?
Heir, Apparently is a fast-paced and fun YA contemporary. Kara McDowell strikes an excellent balance of adventure, rising stakes, and Wren finally getting answers. Theo and Wren’s journey during the apocalypse did not come without a price, which initially forces Theo to maintain his distance. Meanwhile, Wren must decide how much further into the royal mess she wants to get. Wren and Theo have a sweet connection that deepens as they are forced to work together to survive on the island. The supporting characters was great and includes Theo’s siblings, Wren’s sister and friend, and of course Comet the dog. I’m curious if there will be more adventures in this series!

The Undermining of Twyla and Frank returns to the magical world of Tanria. Twyla and Frank are Tanrian marshals who, after the events of book one, find themselves looking for things to do to keep them busy. Soon they are paired up with rookie Duckers, when they come across a magical mystery. As Twyla and Frank investigate the mystery, their friendship is tested like never before.
I really enjoyed The Undermining of Twyla and Frank! Twyla and Frank have such a strong friendship and positive dynamic. The two partners work together seamlessly; they’ve seen each other at their worst and their best. Frank and Twyla are also an older couple who have children and grandchildren, which I appreciated. I loved how Frank and Twyla are always there for each other no matter what. The dialogue is hilarious and heartfelt.
Megan Bannen excels at telling a cozy fantasy that also has very real stakes and excellent pacing. The world-building of Tanria is also excellent and expanded upon in this sequel. Readers who enjoy found family, well-developed romance, and fantastical mysteries will love The Undermining of Twyla and Frank.
