Going into this book I didn't know exactly what I was going to think. I'll start out by saying that I'm a picky romance reader, so while this book wasn't for me, based on so many other reviews on here, a lot of people love it.
I'll start by saying that the setting was nice. The small town, a bakery that our female lead opens up. It was nice and comforting and what you'd expect from a small town romance.
I liked the idea of Ivy's storyline being included to add something extra to the romance plot, so starting out, I was interested.
However, the book fell flat for me pretty quickly. My main issue being that everything felt so rushed.
I never really felt connected to any of the characters because things moved so fast. Both with the Romance plot and with Ivy.
There were a collection of side character's like Shay, who felt really undeveloped, almost to the point where their inclusion in the book felt unnecessary.
Overall while the setting was nice and the premise appealing. The rushed romance plot left me disappointed, as it truly didn't feel like they had any real connection.
But as I said, I'm very picky with romances and if you like fast paced small town romances, you may like this.

The Library Of Heartbeats brings you along on a slow, melodic journey. The atmosphere of this book was comforting and the premise interesting.
If you enjoy slower slice of life literary works, then I think you'd enjoy this book a lot.
I liked the cast of characters we were introduced to and just the overall feel of the novel.
Another enjoyable read from this author.

The Lagos Wife is marketed as a thriller but I don't necessarily think that's the best way to describe this book.
What you get here is a character driven, slower paced narrative, which does have many twists and turns along the way that keep you hooked. But to me this read more like a literary fiction with a mystery plot. Which I absolutely loved.
Within this book you get two main narratives, Nicole, who has been living in Nigeria with her husband and has now disappeared.
And Claudine, her Aunt who has arrived in Nigeria from the UK, to try and piece together what happened to her neice.
Both voices are equally strong and fleshed out, keeping me interested throughout the entire novel.
I would definitely recommend it.

There are so many things that I liked about this book. It follows a family who have drifted apart from each other, and the journey they take to heal their relationships.
The character development was great.
I enjoyed the nature aspects and the inclusion of the talking fox added a whimsical charm which I appreciated.
This book is fairly slow paced as we weave our way through this families complicated relationship.
The writing is lyrical and at times captivating, and it's all wrapped up in a compelling setting.
The main negative I found, is that it did feel a little repetitive in parts.
But overall I really enjoyed this book and think it would suit people who like slow paced character driven literary works.

For the first 40-50% of this book I was intrigued. I loved the writing style and I truly thought this could be a 5 star read. However, the further in I got, the more I found myself getting a little bored, and then confused.
I did enjoy some of the humour in this book, and there were some well written and interesting characters. There was just something about the end of the book that just didn't work as well for me as the promising beginning.
