Beverly Jenkins is a romance author who I can always be sure with deliver robust and well-researched historical romances. She, of course, did not disappoint with the second installment of her Women Who Dare series, WILD RAIN. While I found that the ending to this novel was very rushed, I otherwise enjoyed the pacing and development of Spring and Garrett’s relationship. Their banter was fun and flirtatious, and their relationship was built on communication and respect. I’m not opposed to a historical romance ending in marriage, but it’s always a nice and appreciated surprise when they don’t — and no, this doesn’t mean that we don’t get our Happily Ever After! The obstacle that faced our couple was one that actually made sense and relates to modern audiences, and I appreciate that a main theme in this book was Spring’s unwillingness to compromise, and Garrett’s utter and total respect of this fact. I’m excited to see whose story we get next in the series!
