Nick is a loser and a coward. Lily deserves better. Didn't even want to see how he'd redeem himself because he's just full of bad choices and self-deprecation.
Too many queer-phobic (specifically biphobic) remarks for me...
Moderate: Biphobia
Tried listening on audio after DNF'ing the physical book a few years ago when I was halfway through, and I have the same thoughts...quite boring and too much inner monologue from the main character, not enough dialogue or action.
I ended up DNF'ing this one 15% in. The premise was super interesting, but it takes way too long to get into the story and find out what the main plot is.
Kang's perspectives took me out the story. Half of the story surrounds Kang's plot and I did not find it to be engaging, and it took me out of Ning and her journey.
Boring. I got halfway through and realized I truly did not care about the mystery or the main character, and I had no inclination to ever pick this up. I really enjoyed And Now She's Gone by this author, so I'll pick up more of her works in the future.
Confused beyond reason and bored out of my mind...not a great combo, so this one just wasn't it for me.
Incredible vapid main characters, especially Ramón - he only describes women on how they look in an incredibly judgmental manner. I couldn’t stand him, and Julieta isn’t that memorable or lovable to make me continue. I did, however, enjoy the sprinkles of the original Romeo and Juliet story.
