i wasn’t sure what to expect from this but what ever hose expectations where - this book didn’t meet them.

i found the writing to be boring and one toned in a way that i felt this book was too long for what it was saying and especially since it was just 200 pages of a childrens books with a few drawings ….

it felt longer and quite often a bit boring simply from the monotone style it was written in. as if someone was telling a story that could be interesting and spooky if only the person telling it would care about the story and would want to make it interesting and spooky. but instead it read to me like someone was bored and was doing something they didn’t want to do, so they gave it the least amount of effort they could get away with and just wants to be done with this entire thing.

i don’t know if Gaiman is just not the author for me or what but i can say this wasn’t it for me.

i wanted to enjoy this - i heard so many people  rave about how spooky and creepy they found the whole story and how haunting  found the button eyes … for me it all didn’t get to that spooky point since it all just felt as if someone still needed to give the story the right tone to make it exciting.

maybe i am just not the right reader for this particular book, or i expected to much but it just wasn’t for me.

i think there are better spooky kids books out there that i will go back to instead of trying this one again.
