emotional informative sad medium-paced

This is the most incredible historical fiction novel for the majority of the book. I sobbed for pages and pages. Absolutely beautifully written fictional account of how the people of Eyam closed themselves off to stop the spread of plague to other villages in England. Incredibly moving and evocative.

Then there's a plot twist that had me thinking WTH? And it kinda spoiled what was a beautiful thing. 5 stars all the way through, until the ending.
