Change is one of my favorite shifter books that I have read this year. I never really used to be that into shifters (I was always more on the vampire end of the spectrum) so I never really read shifter books until the end of 2011, and the first few I picked up didn't wow me. I am so glad that I didn't give up on shifters because a few months ago I picked up this book and I loved it! Since reading Change I have read a few more shifter books and I have really enjoyed them all!
Riley is the perfect character for this story. She is strong willed and determined. Just enough to cause problems but also enough to be super fiesty and interesting. I loved all of the facets of her personality. And if there ever was a perfect match for her, it's Hunter. He was so great. I really liked that he wasn't afraid to stand up to Riley, even though he was way too hard on himself. I do wish that we could have seen a little bit more of him fighting with other males. I felt like Riley was pretty secluded almost the whole book. I want to see more of the rest of the pack.
The detail in Change is so great. I could picture all of the scenes playing out in front of me. Soraya Lane is a great writer. Change is a shifter paranormal book that will draw you in and I think you will thoroughly enjoy it.

The Wedding Cake Girl is a really cute book. It is the story of Alex, a really great teenage girl that is just trying to deal with the hand she was dealt. I really felt for Alex because her mother is so awful! Her mom really got me mad. I just wanted to shake her and make her act like an adult. The great thing about this book is that was like peering in the window of Alex's life. It had its ups and downs, failures and successes, and it went through a lot of different things. I loved that because it just seemed very realistic.
There are a bunch of different characters that come in and out of Alex's life. Some I liked more than others. Jeremy is such a great guy, and I think he brings out the best in Alex. Speaking of Alex, I loved seeing how driven she was with the marine biology stuff. I loved seeing her plan out her big research project. And now the not so much- Zack just got on my nerves. I know he was Alex's best friend since forever, but some of the stuff he did just irritated me. But I did love diving partner Zack. Which brings me to the other awesome thing about The Wedding Cake Girl. I loved the descriptions of the island. I could picture myself there. The writing and details were great and I thought they totally made the story come alive.
Even though I had a few character issues, I think the journey that Alex goes on is a real winner. I loved it and I really loved the island of Santa Rita. Book me a plane ticket please! I think fans of realistic contemporaries will really enjoy The Wedding Cake Girl.

Dark. Mesmerizing. Raw. Powerful. Riveting. This book is all of those things! Man, Chistine Fonseca really outdid herself with Transcend. I totally loved it, in a creepy dark and disturbing way. This book is written in a kind of stream of conscious way. You kind of get completely immersed in Ien's head and the whole book is very much from his point of view. It totally rocked! I liked it even more than The Phantom of the Opera.
Ien is such a compelling character. It was hard for me to be mad at him. I mean he does some pretty crazy stuff and through it all I was still rooting for him. Ien's mind is so chaotic. It is a very intense book, but so well done.
The writing is incredible. Stream of conscious is such a hard writing style to do. It is confusing and can be really frustrating, unless it is well done. I'm not sure if it even was stream of conscious but it seemed that way to me. And it was done amazingly. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the page. I love the Phantom of the Opera feel to it- it was dark and dangerous and raw. There is just this gritty feel to it. I can't get over how much I loved it. I expected to like it a lot and maybe even love it, but Transcend truly blew me away. It is pretty different than the other books that I normally read but it was such a great choice. If you are looking for a dark book, or some wonderful and stupendous writing- you NEED to read Transcend.

I love the My Merlin series so much! It is one of my favorite series based on a legend that I have ever read. The world that Priya Ardis creates is incredible. Fans of King Arthur and Merlin need to read this series.
Matt and Vane. This whole book boiled down to that one choice. And what a choice it was! I didn't even know what I really wanted, but still Ever My Merlin was right on point the whole time. Ryan's struggle was like reading my thoughts the whole way. It was such a good journey for her to go on. Like an epic adventure. I didn't really know who to believe all the time, but that was part of the fun. Who was telling the truth? Who was really bad? Was anyone bad? Were they both bad? I am not kidding- all of those questions and theories passed through my mind at one point or another while reading the final book in the My Merlin series.
I knew what I wanted to happen guy wise, but I am not going to tell you what that is. Instead I am going to tell you one thing I love and I thing I hate about both guys.
Matt- I love how good he was. It really did seem like he wants to save everyone all the time. But I couldn't stand how he would never make a move concerning Ryan. I know he cares about her. I just really wanted him to do something a little more a bunch of times in the books.
Vane- I love how you can tell he really does care so much about Ryan, and seeing glimpses of his true self when she is around. But I can't stand how arrogant he is. He holds is cards so close that no one can tell what is really going on with him half of the time.
Ever my Merlin and the My Merlin series in general is one that I whole heartedly recommend for fans of legends, mythology, magic and fantasy. I love the story that Priya told. The writing is magical and the attention is detail is incredible. She created a pretty awesome and expansive universe. The ending of the book was so intense too! I loved it.

Just like when I picked up The Faerie Ring, The Torn Wing transported me back to Victorian London. I love Kiki Hamilton's writing so much. I read another review and they described the writing as "weaving" and that is such a perfect description because it is completely true. Kiki is the master of weaving in details and backstory and description. It makes reading so exciting, and it makes me go from enjoying a book to getting sucked into its pages and falling in love with it. Kiki's writing made me fall in love with The Faerie Ring and its sequel The Torn Wing.
I loved The Faerie Ring for the magical world that was created and I was so happy to get to live within its pages again. The Torn Wing is every bit as magical and awesome as the first book. I love the mix of history and magic and secrets. It is just so cool. Plus you get to spend more time with Tiki and her family and they are just the best!
We find out lots more in The Torn Wing and I feel like we are finally getting some answers. I love uncovering secrets and there certainly was a lot of that in this book. It is just such an enjoyable ride. I can't wait to read the next book. This is turning out to be a favorite series for me.
Kiki Hamilton is great about laying a bit of a foundation for those that may not have remembered everything from the first book. But she doesn't do too much of it so that it gets annoying. Another reason why her writing rocks. She is great about balancing detail. Never too much or too little. I need the next book asap!!

I really like this series. This book picks up right after the first one left off and it doesn't do too much re-telling. I really liked that. I sometimes get annoyed when series give way too much back story in each of the books. It is a series, people are supposed to read them in order, we don't need to be told again what happened in the last book. The Bronze and the Brimstone did a really good job of just briefly re-introducing the characters and then jumping right back into the story.
I really like all the characters in the book, and I especially liked how they seemed to get more comfortable with their situation. I thought they matured a lot in the book. And I really like Hansum and Guilietta. I think they are adorable. I liked that Shamira also had a bigger role in this book, I felt like she kind of got lost amongst the shuffle in the first story and here she got her own part.
The attention to detail in this trilogy is astounding! I love reading about history this way, because it really does come alive. Lory does such an amazing job of describing Verona. I think this will be such an excellent way for kids and teens to learn about history in a fun and interesting way. I think this series is good for younger teens, although anyone can enjoy it.
I will admit that I thought it was a little slow at parts. Maybe that was just because I found it to be a little repetitive after reading the first book, or maybe because I have been suffering from reading ADD this past week. Even though I caught myself skimming over a few pages, I still really enjoyed the story and cannot wait to find out what is going to happen in the final installment.

I can't believe the final book in the Stork trilogy is finally here. I am sad to see this trilogy come to an end but I really liked the way it all ended. I thought this book was better than the second one- I really enjoyed it! We got to see lots of new characters, which I think was awesome. I think that was just the thing missing from book 2. The new additions breathed new life into the story.
Kat is just such a determined girl. She does not give up, which is so admirable. Even if she doesn't always follow the rules. Plus she has this cute little snarky streak in her that I really found amusing. And Jack made me smile again! He showed me why I loved him so much in the first book. That in itself made me super happy.
Flock is a surprising end to an adventurous trilogy. I didn't see a few things coming in this installment. And one of them was pretty big! I'm not going to say a word though, you will just have to read it for yourself to find out. And then once you do, let me know if you like it or not. Personally I did like it, even though it bummed me out a little bit. But I think it was fitting.
I said in my previous reviews that I loved the norse mythology in the previous too books and this one was pretty awesome too. I was so happy to see more legends explained and woven into the story. Plus some secrets uncovered and mysteries answered. I felt like Flock was a satisfying end to a good YA series. I really enjoyed the adventures of the Stork trilogy. And I love that Wendy has something in her author blurb about the series that says she misses Kat and bets they are up to mischief without her or something like that and I just think that is so perfect. I can totally picture Kat stirring up all kinds of mischief, and it is how I like to think of her and her gang too.

I have read a good amount of books by Kailin Gow but this is my first second in a series book that I have read of hers, and I really like it! I think she is good at giving just enough background from the first book to bring you up to speed. Never Land drops you right into the action of a concert, just like the first book. I really liked that they each started out on the same kind of tone.
From the first page of Never Land, it is very fast paced. There is never a dull or slow moment in the whole book. I flew through reading it in only a couple of short hours. It kept my interest the whole time and has left me really excited for the third book.
As I mentioned in my review of Never say Never, there are lots of guys that wished they had Neve's attention. I like Danny and Luc a lot, but I have finally made up my mind who I like more. I can proudly say that I am now a huge Luc fan! I feel like we got to know each of the guys a little bit better in this book. I like Danny I just don't like how Neve is always running back to him no matter what.
Never Land deals with some deeper and more serious issues, and there was plenty of drama. I felt bad for Neve because she always seemed to be in the middle of it, but it wasn't her fault. Fans of the first book will love the sequel- I enjoyed it even more than the first book. It fits in the new adult (which I am completely loving right now!) category perfectly.

I loved Shallow even more than the first book, Going Under. Shallow can be read alone but I would recommend reading Going Under first so you can be introduced to Jessie and Claire. I loved Jessie and Claire and I didn't really think anyone could top them. I have such a soft spot for faux bad boys that have a sweet side- and Jessie did big time. So I thought there was no way that I would connect with Payton and Nick in the same way. But I was so very wrong. I liked Payton and Nick even MORE than Jessie and Claire, which is high praise from me.
Payton has such a smart mouth on her. Haha she cracked me up so many times. There were so many innuendos in Shallow that I lost count. I would say this is a book for a slightly older crowd because of that. Nick seemed like such a great guy. I know they described him as a player but I never really saw it except for in reference to his past. All I saw was a great, very sweet guy that was clearly in love with Payton. He made me smile. Plus, I totally want to drive his awesome car. The one thing I didn't like about Shallow was the over use of the word "playah". It is such a minor issue and it is the only complaint I have about the whole book, but I just didn't like the spelling of it. It kind of grated on my nerves when I read it, but other than that I fell head over heels in love with Shallow.
Georgia Cates did such an awesome job with this series. I would love to see another one for Dane. He is such a sweetie too! I would also really like to see a college years story featuring both couples (jessie, claire, payton and nick) That would be super exciting! Fans of contemporary romances need to read this series. I loved it. I totally got into the worlds of East Franklin and Collinsville. The split in point of views was perfectly done. It wasn't too quickly and it was very easy to follow who was speaking and all that. I was sad every time I had to put Shallow down to go do something else. I just wanted to keep reading. Shallow is a well executed romance and super fun to read.
