A Deal with the Elf King is the first book in the fantasy romance series Married to Magic by Elise Kova. Each of the books in the Married to Magic series features a different couple, so the books can be read as standalones, but they are all set in the same magical world, so there may be some character crossover between the books. I love this idea, but I typically see it in a contemporary romance setting, so I was super excited to see it play out in a rich fantasy setting. What a fantastic idea for a series, because the world that Elise Kova has created for us is so rich and atmospheric, and it has many political issues to sort out between the different kingdoms, not to mention cultural issues with all of the different species of creatures present in the world. There are so many things for us to unpack and explore in future books. I am such a huge fan of Elise Kova's writing and world building that I personally hope that the Married to Magic series is a very long series. I fell in love with a Deal with the Elf King and I can't wait for the next book- A Dance with the Fae Rogue, which is currently scheduled to release In November 2021. It cannot come fast enough for me!
In A Deal with the Elf King we meet our main character Luella, who is the healer for her small town. Her town has another set of problems. Her town borders a part of the forest called The Fade, which is a barrier of sorts separating the human "natural" world with the magical world of the Elves. Each generation a girl is born with magical powers. This girl is known as the Human Queen, and when she comes of age, the Elf King comes to meet her and to marry her. This Human Queen goes to live with the elves to help restore their land. This year, however; no Human Queen has manifested itself. It should come as no surprise that Luella finds out she is the Human Queen and she is whisked away forced to marry the Elf King. That is when the real magic of the story starts. I loved Luella and I loved Eldas so much. Eldas is super caring and thoughtful. I don't think he gets enough credit. He was constantly going out of his way to make sure Luella was comfortable. I absolutely adore everything he did for her, and he never once wanted credit for his good deeds. That is the true mark of a good kind person. Eldas was my favorite because at times I wanted to shake Luella, but overall I really appreciated her independent streak. She was a great, if not a little strong willed to a fault, main character. And I have to mention Kitten! Oh, how I loved Kitten!
Even more than the romance and the characters, which were superb, I also loved the world itself. I loved the description of the land of beyond, the natural world, the fade in between, the land of the magical creatures, and how magic helps to balance all of it. The mystery of the human queens throughout history was also super fascinating to me. I loved seeing their journals and seeing Luella and Eldas try to figure out how to sustain the worlds. I can't wait to see more of the world in the next book! I am super excited to journey to the land of the fae, which I am sure will present more unique issues, some of which are alluded to in this novel. I think Elise Kova has a winner on her hands with this novel and this series idea. I am in love with it!

Kiss the Fae is the first book in the new adult romantic fantasy series called Vicious Faeries by Natalia Jaster. The Vicious Faeries series follows three adopted sisters as they find themselves up against a massive challenge imposed on them by the fae rulers of the sky, the river and forest. They each have to face their task and win, or they all lose! I love the idea of this, and it sets itself up perfectly for a three book series, because each of the books focuses on a different sister. Kiss the Fae is all about Lark and Cerulean, the fae ruler of the Sky. I absolutely loved Kiss the Fae. It has everything that I long for in a fantasy- a fantastic enemies to lovers romance, an intriguing plot, wonderfully developed characters and a world that I am transported to. This book made me fall in love alongside Lark and Cerulean, and it made me absolutely ravenous for more of Natalia Jaster's books. Luckily, I know several of her series are on kindle unlimited, because I feel some binge reading coming on! Also, I need book two in the Vicious Faeries series in my life...right now! This book is a must read for fans of romantic fantasies.
As I mentioned above, our main character in this book is Lark. I loved the bond that Lark and her found sisters shared, and I can't wait to get to know Juniper and Cove better in their stories. I am super anxious to find out if there situation is similar to Lark's (nope, no spoilers, you have to read to see what I mean) in her connection with Cerulean, or if their story will have a completely different spin. Lark is fierce, and I love what an equal she seemed to be for Cerulean. She is not afraid to back down from anything, and watching the two of them bicker, fight and just plain go at it, was so much fun! This was enemies to lovers at its' best!
Not only was the romance aspect of the story complete perfection, but the task/quest was really challenging and rewarding. I loved seeing Lark's journey up the mountain and watching her try and puzzle out its' riddles and secrets. I never wanted this book to end, that's how much I was loving my reading experience. Natalia Jaster wove such a fantastic world that I didn't want to leave it. I loved the fae fauna and how animals were such an integral part of the story. That was really beautiful to read about, and I know it will also be present in Juniper and Cove's stories as well, which is something I look forward to. I loved how Natalia gave teasers as to what Cerulean's brothers Puck and Elixir, because it made me even more excited to read their stories. I just know I am going to love them as much as Lark and Cerulean! This is a fantastic book, and it is high up there on my list of favorite romantic fantasies. If you like fantasy, fae and enemies to lovers romance, what are you waiting for? You need to read Kiss the Fae, right now! This is one of my favorite reads of 2020!

Please Note: This is the second book in a series that should be read in order. This review may contain spoilers from book one.
If you are new to this series, you can check out my review of Book one HERE
How the Multiverse Got its Revenge is the second book in the Thorne Chronicles by K. Eason. The Thorn Chronicles is a young adult science fiction series. It is a like a fairytale set in space! I loved the idea of this series. Book two felt like even more of a feminist kick butt journey than the first book did. which I loved! The writing is just as witty as the first book, and the characters have really all come into their own, especially Rory. If you like Science Fictions with fun plots and great characters then I think you will really enjoy The Thorne Chronicles immensely.
How the Multiverse Got its Revenge takes place two years after the events of the first book. Rory has successfully avoided marrying her betrothed, but as a result her and her gang is now on the run. We learned some about the plants of space in the first book, but they take on a much bigger role in this second installment. In fact, the plants have a mind and an agenda of their own, which was super interesting. I got a little bit of a Terraformer by Colleen Houck vibe while reading this book, which was pretty cool. This must be the year of the plants in novels!
I enjoyed this follow up to book one, but the pacing of this one felt a little slower to me. I loved the fast pace of the first book. I felt like there was always something happening, and I didn't feel like that while reading this book. What I did really enjoy was that the problem solving seemed to step up its game in this book. The big bads here were really smart, and Rory struggled with that a bit. I really enjoyed seeing her and the gang push themselves to try and gain back their upper hand against these new aliens. It was a great challenge for them, and I really loved seeing more Arithmancy, and seeing more of the various aspects of Arithmancy, like Aura reading and complex code work. It was really fascinating and I think it was my favorite element of the story.
With villains, plenty of political issues, action and another romp across space, How the Multiverse Got its Revenge was a fun book. There is no cliffhanger ending and the story indicates that this is the end, but it leaves the reader to guess whether this is truly the end of Rory's exploits or if there could be more adventure in her future. I liked the way everything ended, but I am personally hoping for another installment or two because I feel like there are so many other adventure out there for her and her friends. How the Multiverse Got its Revenge was a solid book, and I really enjoyed it. I think I liked the first book just a smidge more, but How the Multiverse Got its Revenge will appeal to character driven readers of science fiction. Plus, it has a fun mix of fairy tale elements and creatures that added a bit of whimsy to the story. The Thorne Chronicles were a fun read for me. Let me know your thoughts below if you have read this series!

How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse is the first book in the Thorne Chronicles by K. Eason. The Thorn Chronicles is a young adult science fiction series. It is a like a fairytale set in space! I loved the idea of this book, and it was a super fun first installment to the series. I am going to dive into book two immediately after I finish this review, and I can't wait to continue on and see what is in store for Rory next! The writing is witty and the characters are great, so if those are things you look for in your scifi books, then I think you will really enjoy How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse.
As you may have guessed, our main characters in How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse is Rory Thorne herself! Rory is a Princess that is set to take the throne next to govern the interplanetary Thorne Consortium. But then her father is assassinated and she finds herself betrothed to a far away prince. When she meets her soon to be husband she discovers a plot to overthrow him. (is it just me, or does this seem to happen a lot to Rory?) Does this scare Rory off? Not a chance- she jumps right into the fray. I love how gutsy Rory is! Someone described this book as the Princess Bride meets Princess Leia and I think that is the perfect description and combination for Rory! Rory is smart and resourceful, which I greatly admired about her. Watching her think through each situation and assess her next step was something I loved to see in a heroine, and is a quality that I can really relate to.
I loved the technology that was introduced and discussed in this book, including how they used Arithmancy, which is used for all kinds of hacking. I love stories that involve hacking, but Arithmancy felt different in that it can just as easily apply to computers as it can to people, which was super cool. I really enjoyed this story and am super pumped to continue on. This book did feel a bit like a foundational novel and it included a lot of info, sometimes info dumping on the world set up, how things worked, etc. I am hoping that in the next book we have less telling and more showing since we already have a good idea of this world and the ins and outs, history, etc. I can't wait to see what is in store for Rory in the next book. I know there are going to be plenty of twists, turns and more political intrigue and problems in store for us next, and I for one and here for it! Bring on book 2!

**Please Note: This is the second book in a series that should be read in order. This review may contain spoilers for book one.
Warmaidens is the second book in the young adult Gravemaidens duology by author Kelly Coon. I loved the first book, Gravemaidens, so I was super excited to dive into the final book in the duology. I have really been digging duologies this year, and the Gravemaidens Duology is one to add to my list of favorites. I loved the story told in Warmaidens and I loved how everything wrapped up. If you are a fan of fantasies that draw on afterlife and spiritual mythologies and do not shy away from action and battle scenes, then Gravemaidens and Warmaidens are must reads for you! Kelly Coon has created a rich fantasy world filled with vibrant characters, and an action packed plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire journey. I loved this book!
Warmaidens starts off action packed, as I figured it would based on that crazy ending in Gravemaidens. In case you need a quick refresher, in Gravemaidens we met our main character Kammani, who is training to be a healer. In her kingdom of Alu, when the king nears the end of his life, the kingdom has a tradition of selecting three beautiful sacred maidens to accompany the king into the afterlife as his brides. It is supposed to be a great honor, but when Kammani's sister gets selected she will do anything to save her from death, which landed Kammani smack dab in the middle of a big conspiracy that left her unsure of who to trust. The book ended with Kammani and the whole gang faking their death, and now they are on the run from the corrupt lugal who took over Alu.
Warmaidens starts off the Kammani and the whole gang settling in to a quiet, and secret new life in Manzazu, but things do not stay quiet for long because soon after our story starts there is an attack on Manzazu, which leads everything to think that they have been discovered. What happens next is yet another fast paced adventure full of secrets. I love that Kelly Coon weaves a real sense of fear, distrust and urgency in her writing. I felt a little uneasy the whole time I was reading because I was genuinely scared for the characters. I felt their fear and terror deep down in my bones. They find themselves in so many fights and close calls that I never knew who was going to make it or not, especially true since not all of the characters might make it out of this story alive. So be warned about that. My emotions were all over the place while I was reading- but in a good way! I loved that Warmaidens was able to get my heart racing. This book was a fantastic ride from start to finish!
I also loved the addition of the boatsman. We saw him just a little in the first book, but his presence is felt a lot more in Warmaidens. I liked learning more about him and his story. I loved all of the characters, but I think my favorite is Dagan. I just adore him! Kammani is a fantastic heroine and she is fierce in more ways than one. Honestly, my only gripe with her is that I sometimes wish she expressed herself better with Dagan, but that might have been me pushing my love for him onto her shoulders, and I wanted to her to treat him better sometimes. (again. because I love him so!) Overall, the Gravemaidens duology was a wonderful read. If you are a fan of young adult fantasies featuring friendship, sisterhood, romance and plenty of secrets and adventure, Gravemaidens is a duology that will be a wonderful addition to any fantasy lovers collection. It feels fresh and different, and the story is so well done. I loved this book so much! What a great ending to an epic duology!

Want is the first book in the young adult Want series by Cindy Pon. The Want series is a Dystopian that has a really cool world setup. If you are a fan of books set in the future that feature all kinds of cool technology, which is personally what I love to see in my dystopians, then I think the Want series is one you should check out. The sequel Ruse is already releases, so you can binge both books back to back! It was an ok read for me, but I can see it really appealing to a lot of readers.
In Want we meet out main character Jason Zhou. Zhou is part of the meis, aka the have-nots. Sick of watching the rich (the yous) get richer, live longer and better lives, at the expense of the meis, Zhou decides he is going to finally do something about it. He links up with a group of activists whose goal it is to take down the Jin Corporation- the main company responsible for so much of the world’s pollution, which is the main factor that led to his mom’s death.
Zhou sets out to infiltrate the corporation by befriending the CEO’s daughter, Daiyu. As you can possibly imagine, things get out of hand and Zhou starts to develop feelings for Daiyu. I enjoyed the world setup and the gang of characters. The book felt a little info-dumpy at parts when I was trying to gain my bearings on the world and a little heavy handed as I was learning about the environmental problems. I actually really appreciated the issues that were present in this book, with pollution, smog and illnesses that they can cause, I just felt like I was being hit over the head with it, which sometimes took away from my reading enjoyment. It was a heavier read that I was expecting, that is not to say it is a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. I think many readers will really enjoy the message being sent in Want- especially in the current climate of the world.
My favorite aspect of the story were the ensemble cast of characters and the friendships that were forged throughout the book. If you are looking for a dystopian read set in a futuristic society that with heavy environmental issues present, Want is going to be a great series for you to check out.

Never After: The Thirteenth Fairy is a middle grade fantasy by Melissa de la Cruz. This book was so much fun! I loved the characters, the world and the adventure that we get to go on. I am really hoping that this is the start of a fun filled middle grade series. (I think it will be a series, but I am not 100% sure.) Never After grabbed my attention right from the start with an adorable, lovable main character and a whimsical story and world. I was instantly transported alongside of Filomena. If you are a fan of middle grade fantasies, Never After is a book you will not want to miss. I think this is great for middle grade readers and older readers alike.
In Never After: The Thirteenth Fairy, we meet our main character Filomena. Filomena grew up in a small town and I took an immediate liking to her. She cracked me up right off the bat when she described the popular kids at her school as the fettuccini alfredo's, because they always order fancy pasta as take out food for lunch. I knew then and there that the writing style in this book was going to be something I enjoyed. And I was right. Melissa De La Cruz is such a versatile author. I love her middle grade series and young adult series, and I love how easily she is able to write engaging books in both age groups.
Filomena is such a relatable young lady to me. She starts out the book super excited because today is release day for the 13th (and last!) installment in her favorite series of all time- the Never After Book series. When she gets to the bookstore, she finds out that the book is not being publisher after all...because the author actually died years ago and her estate has not been able to find a completely 13th book. What a tragedy! On her way home things start to get even weirder for Filomena. She runs into someone who she thinks is a very believable cosplayer dressed up as the main character from the Never After series. But once she saves Jack from an Ogre attack she is whisked away to the magical land from her books, and the real adventure starts.
I loved every second of this story. If you are a fan of fairy tales, then this is a fantastic book for you to check out. I loved how we got to see some familiar tales and characters, but here they were a warped and twisted version because of everything happening in their land. And so Filomenia goes on her journey to save the kingdom of Westphalia from the evil enchantress! This book was a complete delight!
