Mixed Up is a standalone contemporary romance by Emma Hart. I read, and really enjoyed Being Brooke, another one of Emma's contemporary romances. I thought Being Brooke was hilarious and I was really looking forward to seeing if Mixed Up was as sassy and fun as Being Brooke. Sometimes for me, the true test of an author is to read two or three different standalones or series, and see if I enjoy all of them. If I do, the author beings part of my auto buy or auto interest. And I am very happy to say, that I really enjoyed Mixed Up. Even more than I enjoyed Being Brooke, in fact.
Mixed Up is an enemies to more trope, and I loved it. I noticed something very interesting after reading Mixed Up. I think I have a new found thing for books featuring chefs. My last 5 star read was The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson, and that book was also an enemies to more read featuring two chefs. I loved it so much, and I highly recommend you check it out if you have not yet. But I loved Mixed Up too. I love the banter and sass in the Enemies trope. And sass is something Emma Hart does fantastically well. This was a really fun read.
I loved the two main characters, Raven and Parker. Raven owns her own bar, where she is a mixologist. I loved this aspect of Raven's personality. The names she came up with for the drinks she created totally cracked me up. Parker is an accomplished chef. They are basically forced together when Raven decides she has to expand her bar into having a full menu to stay competitive. Insert Parker and things get a whole lot more interesting. These two were explosive together. They were explosive as enemies and explosive as more. I loved it. I am completely addicted to Raven and Parker. I want more of them! Seriously, I want a whole other book about them!

Bottom line: If you are like me and you really enjoy the bantering in a enemies to more story, you will completely love Mixed Up by Emma Hart. It is a fantastic read with great characters, off the charts chemistry and sass and extremely fun writing. I became addicted to this story and I think you will too. Mixed Up is perfect for fans of sexy and sassy romances. Raven and Parker sizzle off the the page. Mixed Up was a great read for me.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**With Every Breath is first book in the new adult series, called the Wanderlust series. It takes place at the Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia, Chile. I love to hike, so a hiking romance novel is right up my alley. With Every Breath is the story of Auden and Rhys. I absolutely loved the romance and the setting of this story. I could not put this book down. In fact, it was one of my favorite reads of the year.
Auden and Rhys each have different reasons for their hike in Patagonia. Auden just landed a writing internship with an outdoors magazine and she wants to interview hikers to upgrade her internship to a paying job. Rhys has a big secret that has been haunting him. More and more of his story unfolds as With Every Breath unfolds and his story really gripped my heart. I felt for him so much, because his past was consuming him. Auden sees him and sees what his past is doing to who he is, and I loved that about her. The two of them were like magic on paper. I could not get enough of their interactions, their experiences, and their road to romance. With Every Breath is the kind of book that made me ignore everything going on around me. I was so ensconced in their world, and the magic of Patagonia.
I cannot wait to see what is going to come next in the wanderlust series. I really hope the next book also focuses on Auden and Rhys. It seemed like their story stopped at a good place for them, but I am not done with these two. I want more, more, MORE. There are plenty more adventures for them to go on. (yes, I am begging you Lia Riley) Sometimes a book just speaks to you so completely that you fall in love with it. That happened to me with With Every Breath. I fell in love with the characters, with the setting and with the story. With Every Breath releases tomorrow and I recommend everyone grab a copy. I don't care whether you are a hiker or not, and I don't care if you are burnt out on new adult. This is one story that you do not want to miss. Trust me. With Every Breath is one of my favorite reads of 2015.

It Happened on Love Street is first book in the adult series, called the Everland, Georgia series. I really loved Lia Riley's new adult romance, With Every Breath, so I was super excited to pick up this new series by her. It Happened on Love Street is an adult contemporary romance set in a small town. I could very easily see this appealing to both fans of new adult and adult. The main character, Pepper is a recent law school grad who relocates for a clerkship. So I think she bridges the gap between new adult and adult. (But maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part. Maybe she is firmly in the adult camp, and I am just wishing myself her to be younger. )
It Happened on Love Street has all the charm of a small town romance...all the busy bodies and quirks that I love. And it has really excellent characters. I love when the author takes some time developing a robust cast of secondary character when the book is in a small town. I think it all adds to the atmosphere. I loved the whole gang...from the nosy sister, to the everyone at the dog park, to all the biddies who love the mystery and aloofness of Rhett. Lia Riley did such a great job making Everland Georgia feel real. I can't wait to go back and read about more of its' inhabitants. (especially since I have a strong idea who the next book is going to feature ;) )
I really like Pepper and Rhett. I loved seeing Rhett fumble all over himself with Pepper. I liked Pepper too, but her stubbornness was annoying at times. I liked Rhett the most. Even though he starts out as a loner, it is so easy to see how caring he is and how emotional he actually is. Pepper refuses to listen to herself, which is frustrating for everyone around her. But nonetheless, Pepper and Rhett are great together. I loved watching them sneak around and I loved watching what crazy situations they got themselves into. I also have to give a shoutout to Rhett's awesome dogs! Faulkner, Fitzgerald, and Steinbeck. ha! I loved them!
I cannot wait to see what is going to come next in the Everland Georgia series. I really hope the next book also focuses on Beau. And I really want to see more Rhett in the next book. I just love him! Actually, I really loved everything about It Happened on Love Street. I fell in love with the characters, with the setting and with the story. Everything about this book worked for me. Lia Riley is a consistently excellent author. I have really enjoyed every single one of the books I have read of hers, and the Everland Georgia series is no exception. It Happened on Love Street is a cute read that you do not want to miss. Happy Release day to this excellent small town romance.

If you are new to the series, check out my review of book one- Too Hot To Handle HERE and book two, Too Wild to Tame HERE
Too Hard to Forget is the third book in the Romancing the Clarksons series by Tessa Bailey. I really loved book, Too Hot to Handle. and I liked book two, Too Wild to Tame. This series is an adult contemporary romance series. Book one is still my favorite, but this second installment was good as well. I just love all of Tessa Bailey's works. This book, Too Hard to Forget, might be my favorite book in the series yet!
What I liked the most about this book and this series is the concept. I love a series of interconnected standalone novels, each focusing on a different character. There are tons of books which follow this pattern and it is a big winner for me. Even better if they are books that center around a family or group of siblings. I think that is very interesting and adds another layer of complexity and familiarity between the novels. This series centers around the four Clarkson siblings, but the interesting thing (in my opinion) is the set up. The four Clarkson siblings have not always gotten along, but when they find the journal from their mother, who was the glue of the family, they all head out on a cross-country road trip to fulfill some of her wishes. I love a road trip book, and I love a good, or dysfunctional, family dynamic. So when I found out where this book was headed I was super pumped.
Too Hard to Forget is Peggy Clarkson's story. Peggy's story is a second chance romance, which I love. She goes back to her college intent on finding an old flame. Peggy and Elliot are something else. There is plenty of drama and angst when it comes to the two of them, but it suited them. I really liked their interactions. So much of what happened in their past really affected each of them, so I knew it wasn't going to be all sunshine and roses. They had a pretty toxic relationship before (at least with some aspects of the relationship.) but it was really nice to see how they grew as people, and to see how they would approach each other this second time around. I think they might be my favorite couple out of the whole series. I liked this book even more than I liked the first book in the series.
Bottom line: If you are a character driven reader, you will love this series. Characters are Tessa Bailey's specialty and she certainly delivers with this book and with this series. One of my favorite things in the first book was seeing all the different sibling dynamics, so I was happy to see more of them in this novel as well. Too Hard to Forget is my favorite book in the Clarkson's series so far!

Ninja Girl is a young adult contemporary romance by Cookie O'Gorman. Last year, I read Adorkable by Cookie and I absolutely loved it. It was so stinkin' cute. Ninja Girl looked super cute, so I couldn't pass this one up. I didn't even realize that it was set in the same universe as Adorkable until I was about halfway through the book. It's not a sequel or anything, so you don't have to read adorkable first, but if you are looking for cute YA reads, you totally should. Both Adorkable and Ninja Girl were excellent!
Ninja Girl is the story of Ash, a politician's son and Snow, an awesome martial artist. I loved the scene in the movie theater where Ash and Snow "met". Holy Cow! That scene was making me nervous. Snow has more guts in her little finger than I do in my whole body I think! I know that is what caught Ash's eye in the first place. Watching him pursue Snow was beyond cute. I loved watching the two of them dance around each other. Snow is a great character. She doesn't really fit in with some of the girls her age, but she does a have a great set of friends. Bae and Min were excellent and I loved having them as supporting characters. I would kind of like to back up three months and read about their story! (Please!) Ash is a great guy too. He felt super genuine and was just the right amount of cocky. (I.E. not too much.) Overall, this was a really fun and cute read. Lots of kicking butt and lots of adorable romance. It was a total win for me. I think I liked it even more than Adorkable.
I loved that even though the storyline was a little unrealistic, it didn't feel crazy out of place. I wouldn't picture a high school aged girl to be selected to be a body guard to a high profile guy who is receiving death threats. But the funny thing, is it felt super realistic. Cookie O'Gorman truly did a fantastic job with the fighting scenes. I believed that Snow really was a kick butt ninja girl. I think that was my favorite part of the whole book. I loved how much I bought into and believed in the characters and the storyline. Cookie O'Gorman is a great writer. I can't wait to read more books by her. Ninja Girl was a great read for me.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Sex in the Sticks is the first book in a new series from Sawyer Bennett. If you didn't know by now, I absolutely love Mrs. Bennett's books. They are always well written, with excellent characters and they are always satisfying reads with an awesome romance. When I am in the mood for a go to contemporary romance author, Sawyer Bennett is pretty high up my list on authors I turn to. Sex in the Sticks is the first book in the Love Hurts series. I loved this book. I loved the Alaskan setting. I want to see more small town romances set in Alaska.
Sex in the Sticks is the story of Val and Logan. Val is more than a little self centered, and was maybe a little conceited for my tastes, but I liked that she was who she was. She didn't put on airs around anyone. She was just herself. Take her or leave her. Ultimately, I liked her. I liked her even more once Logan was in the picture. I loved Logan. He is so awesome, and was the character I was rooting for throughout this story. Val gets to this remote Alaskan town, and because she is new and because she is female, she gets a lot of attention. Pair this with Sawyer Bennett's way with words, and you have a really fun story.
I should probably also mention that Val has a dating blog. So she is using the men of this town to feed her blog posts. I thought that was kind of funny, and I liked the addition of her blog into the storyline. I really enjoyed this book. It is a light fluffy, funny read. The characters are a little bit shallow but not surface level shallow. They are just all motivated by looks, at least on first glance. It's hard to explain without reading the story, but it wasn't something that I was bothered by. I really enjoyed Val and Logan's romance. The Love Hurts series is one I will be looking forward to continuing.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Seeking Mr. Wrong is an adult contemporary romance by Natalie Charles. This is the first book I have read by Natalie Charles, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a funny and quick read. It is about an author that is "forced" to switch from children's books to spicy adult romance books when her publisher is bought by another publisher who publishes romance.
Watching Lettie struggle with this problem, which is totally outside of her personality and wheelhouse was really amusing for me. Not to mention hilarious for the people in her life as well. I loved seeing her family's reaction to the whole thing. I thought her story was tons of fun. And Lettie herself is really likable and funny. I enjoyed Seeking Mr. Wrong. I don't want to spoil too much of the plotline for this one, so you will just have to pick up the book for yourself to see.
While the book didn't totally rock my world, I did really enjoy it. It was a quick read that is perfect for when you are in the mood for something light. The plot if funny. The characters are likable and the romance is really nice. I would recommend this one to fans of this kind of plot line. Plus, I am giving away my ARC copy of this book, so enter to win and check the book out for yourself.

Air and Ash is the first book in the Tides series by author Alex Lidell. The Tides series is an epic high fantasy adventure that takes place on the high seas! Umm, yes please!! I was already kicking myself for passing an early review of Daughter of the Pirate King and I have been kicking myself ever since. I was not going to miss out on all the swashbuckling fun in another highly anticipated pirate adventure. And Air and Ash did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this adventure. I loved everything about it! I loved the characters and I really really loved the world building that Alex Lidell created. Trust me, Air and Ash is a book you do not want to miss.
I absolutely loved our heroine, Nile. Yes, she is a princess, but she is kick ass! Seriously, She does not turn away from hard work or unfavorable odds. I loved her determination. Nile does not have it easy, but she always faces what is thrown at her head on. It is hardnot to admire the heck out of her. And even harder not to root for her. She is one of my new favorite characters. I can't wait to see more of her adventures.
And that isn't even talking about the magic in the world. Holy cow, the magic was something else entirely! I totally was not expecting it all. But everything worked so seamlessly together. The world building in Air and Ash was truly something magnificent. Alex Lidell is crazy relented. I am totally loving this series. I need to get my hands on the second book ASAP. And I didn't even scratch the surface on the number of things I loved about this book. I don't give five stars out lightly, but Air and Ash earned every bit of five stars. Don't even get me started on Domenic or the romance. Both are excellent. I want Domenic all to myself. but I am going to let you discover all of that for yourself.
Bottom line: If you can't get enough epic fantasy, like me, this is a series you need to read. Plain and simple. Air and Ash is a fantastic first novel to what is going to be a favorite YA fantasy of mine. I can already tell. I love the characters, I love where the romance is going, I love the world and the magic. All of it works for me. Alex Lidell has a winner on her hands here. I can't wait for more. I need to grab the prequel and book 2 ASAP! Air and Ash is one of my favorite reads of 2017....hands down!

Sweet Southern Trouble is an adult sports romance by author Michele Summers. This is the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Mrs. Summers, but it certainly will not be the last. I loved Sweet Southern Trouble. It was the kind of book that allowed me to totally escape from the real world. I was very absorbed in this book late into the night and even in the morning before I drove to work. I just had to finish it! And I certainly cannot say that about all books I read. It doesn't look like Sweet Southern Trouble is going to be a series, but I really really wish it would be. I got to know Q and so many of the other football players well enough. I want them to have their own stories! Please, make that happen!
Sweet Southern Trouble is a standalone romance novel told in dual narrative between Marabelle and Nick. Marabelle is like a force of nature. I loved watching her tenacity and pure spirited-ness knock Nick off balance more times than I can count. I loved that Nick was so enamored with her feisty nature. I loved how well rounded Marabelle was too. She is a great cook and a fierce tennis player. I loved that we got to explore so many different sides of Marabelle. She was a really interesting (in a great way!) character.
And Nick. Oh Nick. He is as loyal as they come. Even throughout the whole fake charade fiasco they had going on, Nick was as awesome as can be to Marabelle, or Tinker Bell as he called her. I loved seeing what a great guy he was. By the time I finished this book, I had a major crush on Nick. I want him all for myself.
Bottom line: Sweet Southern Trouble was a funny, heartwarming, and really well done standalone romance novel. I loved getting to know all of the characters, I was totally rooting for the main characters, and the secondary characters were a hoot and a half. I want all of the guys on the football team to get their own story. I just love them! if you are looking for a great romance, check out Sweet Southern Trouble.
