"A Fate Inked in Blood" by Danielle L. Jensen is an absolute masterpiece that has left me eagerly awaiting the next installment! This Norse-inspired fantasy romance follows Freya, a shield maiden blessed by the gods, as she battles to unite a fractured nation while grappling with her forbidden attraction to Bjorn.
Jensen's storytelling is captivating, blending rich mythology, intense action, and heartfelt romance in a way that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Tropes:

  • Forbidden Romance
  • Warrior Heroine
  • Bodyguard Romance

Fans of ACOTAR will absolutely love this book for its epic fantasy elements and swoon-worthy romance.

"The Dream Hotel" by Laila Lalami offers a thought-provoking glimpse into a dystopian world where even dreams are monitored by the state. The story follows Sara Hussein, a Moroccan American woman detained by a federal agency due to her high "risk score"
The novel explores themes of surveillance, bureaucracy, and the impact of technology on personal freedom. While the premise is intriguing and the narrative is well-crafted, the pacing may feel slow at times. With this having dystopian themes I thought it would be my stand out read from the @womensproze long list this year but I finished it feeling a little disappointed. However, Lalami's writing is engaging, and the book raises important questions about privacy and control in a technologically advanced society.

Outrage
by Ellen Jones is a truly eye-opening and heartfelt read that left a lasting impact on me. Jones brilliantly captures the ongoing struggles faced by the LGBTQ+ community, shedding light on issues that many of us might not be fully aware of. From marriage and mental health to education, ageing, religion, and sports, the book covers it all with a raw and honest approach.

What I found particularly moving were the personal accounts interwoven with Jones's powerful prose. These stories not only highlight the discrimination that persists but also inspire hope and action. I felt a deep connection to the trailblazers celebrated in the book, whose incredible work is paving the way for a more equal society.

Reading Outrage was a transformative experience for me. It’s a must-read for anyone who cares about human rights and equality. Whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community, an ally, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, this book will resonate with you and inspire you to take action. It's an urgent reminder that the fight for equality is ongoing, a practical guide to what you can do to support it and a hopeful treatise on queer life that everyone should read.

L.V. Matthews has done it again! This master of suspense has crafted another gripping tale that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. What sets this book apart is how Matthews delves into lesser-known aspects of police work, making each story feel fresh and unique.

In this latest thriller, we meet Chris and Jill, a married couple hiding out with secrets of their own. As the plot unfolds, we discover the reasons behind their seclusion, but just when you think you have it all figured out, Jill goes missing, and the suspense intensifies.

This book is perfect for readers who love to unravel complex marital secrets and navigate the murky waters of morally ambiguous characters. If you enjoy tightly wound psychological thrillers that explore the far-reaching consequences of past betrayals, this is a must-read!
