I thought I read this one in 8th grade. I was wrong -- and when I finally got around to it, I fell in love. With Jane, with Mr. Rochester, with Bronte. A wonderful classic.

A good story -- adventure, romance, intrigue, betrayal (this is starting to sound like my review for Sovay) -- but man, the page-to-page reading of it was difficult. Took me three weeks to get through it. I may like it better in retrospect ten years down the road than I do right now.

Funny, sweet, not predictable at all, with just about perfect characters. Loved the setting -- an Art Deco hotel in New York City -- too. Absolutely wonderful.

I love Joan Bauer. Love her books, love her characters, love the situations she finds. And this one, while not perfect, hit me just right. Possibly because I had the same dreams as Hildy did: to be a great reporter. I just didn't follow through as well. Still. It was nice to read a book about someone who did.

It was good... but not great. It lacked a certain something that would take it to the next level. Either that, or it was just trying to do too much -- ghost story, history lesson, family drama, dealing with death -- for me to truly enjoy it.

Cute. And funny. And sweet, but not cloying. Kind of endearing, too. Not spectacular, but very, very... cute.

Not nearly as funny as The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. (Which is too bad, because I really liked that one.) In fact, this one was really kind of lame and not funny at all.

A brilliant, interesting (and accessible!) -- if a little long -- look at a brilliant, hard working, under-appreciated man's life. Adams truly is one of the great people of the Revolution. And his wife is just awesome. A good read.

In spite of the hunky/scary guy on the cover, this one is not a bodice-ripping romance. In fact, while there is romance, this couldn't even remotely be categorized as one. It is an interesting take on Arthurian legends (though McKenzie does a bit of myth re-writing), but it just didn't do much for me. Ah, well.

Good -- lyrical, interesting, sometimes funny (and I felt it was a good translation, too), but.... I don't know. I felt too disconnected from the story to truly enjoy it. On the upside, though, it'll make for a good book group discussion.
