Yea, this one didn’t do what I thought it would.
Bennett was annoying, and the annoyance wasn’t because of the grief from losing Sam. She was all over the place and the hottest of messes, so reading this became tiresome watching her make mistake after mistake.

Jessica Joyce is becoming a favorite of mine. I liked You With a View and loved this one. Eli Mora is a man after my own heart!

3.5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review.
I liked this one more than the first, although, I’m not sure if it’s because I listened to the audio of the first one and didn’t care for the narrators’ voices.
Thomas and Stella were a great match for each other. From the beginning, their banter was bantering and the chemistry was off the charts. Overall, I really liked this book. My only complaint was Stella’s bot being communicative with Thomas 1) about her feelings and 2) about Etienne wanting to talk. For the majority of the story, she talked about appreciating how Thomas allowed open communication and even the number one rule that she set called for “no secrets,” but her choosing to clam up seemed out of place. I’m glad that she finally got it together in the end.

I’ve been waiting for Rio’s story and it was well worth the wait. Rio DeLuca, the man that you are! 😍
I absolutely love a dual timeline second chance romance and the romance in this one did not disappoint. This book had me smiling and kicking my feet, swooning over Rio and Hallie. The yearning. The slow burn. The intimacy. 🫦
Chef’s kiss! 🤌🏾

I’m mixed on how I feel about the FMC. I liked Elle as a character in general. Her sense of hyper independence and absence of her father are things I could relate to, but in my old age, I’m now understanding the importance of letting others help you. I felt Parker was loving her so loudly and sure, he was a bit excessive in buying her everything, but he was also really focused on making her happy—something I don’t think Elle acknowledged very well before the 3rd act break up. She spent too much time projecting her feelings regarding her father onto Parker that I don’t think she really understood what Parker was attempting.
At any rate, I’m glad she finally got over it and figured it out because my guy was down bad.

Not the best writing, but an okay story.
