Can’t wait for the next book!
Verse was the epitome of “if a man wants you, he will come get you and his intentions will show in his words and his actions”.
Garryn was STUBBORN but she was dealing with the right one, the ever patient Verse. I was glad to see the guard come down.
The thing about a good book series is that it makes you want more, it makes you want a story for everybody. I need a Hakeem book in the series, I think I need an Onyx book too and one for Rem and her bodyguard (I wouldn’t be mad at a Second Chance Novella about Gia and Isaac).

Flawless Debut Novel
I’m going to need the author to come pick me up off the floor because that’s where this book left me!!!. This book was complex with equal parts beauty and ugly, both healing and painful. I absolutely loved it and didn’t want to let these characters go.

A Deserving Love
India’s toxic relationship with her son’s father is mentioned in the Author’s previous book Free Game and after reading it, I was hoping for more of India. This book had me ready to fight a “grown” man. After all the hurt and negativity he put India through she was ready, on her time. I enjoyed seeing her growth, she didn’t use one man to get over another. Raymond is a special type of man & I love them together.

I really wanted to love this, but this was not it for me. Damien was a dream and I love that the heroine is a Black Woman and I hope to see another in the future. There sweet elements and moments in this book.
I just can’t take anymore spineless heroines, how could Stella grow up with a woman like Grams and still fold like a card table? There is no prize for being the long suffering sweet girl, curse them people out if they earned it.

I’m convinced that all billionaires are evil, but here I am…
Alastair had the rich man going through something brooding vibe, and Kenya is a independent & opinionated woman that has had to work for everything that she’s accomplished. I absolutely LOVED that when Alastair would come at Kenya crazy and she would correct him every time.
I enjoyed the banter between the MCs and her exchanges with her best friend. Most of the first half had me laughing out loud.
I didn’t enjoy Kenya being a pushover for you know who and I feel like some of the elements could’ve been better addressed/resolved and some elements towards the end were vague. My main grievances: Drake must pay for his crimes. & I’ll just say when they are certain actions/offenses it is MORE than okay for people to catch hands (many missed opportunities for somebody to get popped in the mouth).
Side note: Ezekiel deserves a love story because they put my man through it.
Overall enjoyed this book.

This was weird and not paranormal weird. The Author breaks the fourth wall OFTEN, and the pace of the book was unpredictable to say the least.
I think the author has a style that is an acquired taste and it’s not for me. I could not do the constant time lapse/time jumps. I spent half the book trying to figure out if I skipped a couple pages because what is happening??
I think the shell of the story had potential but it’s written in circles & it was extremely hard to connect one point to the other and I gave up.

Ashton is it for me
4 Stars
I enjoyed the families and how they started to intertwine. Ashton though?? He stole the show for me, he could do no wrong. I honestly wanted to stay in Ashton‘s world longer.
Sometimes authors like to denigrate other women featured in the book in order to highlight the main female character and the Author didn’t do that. I enjoyed the sisterhood displayed in this book both by blood relation, marriage and friendships.
This book surprised me because there was not as much action as one would expect when dealing with multiple families on different sides of law. Honestly, I wanted it Matteo to have more fire and to love Josephina more fiercely. With him being who he is, he took a long time to get it together.
I just want to reiterate that Ashton was that Guy.
But all in all, it was an unproblematic read and I enjoyed it

And this is a cute book, I really enjoyed not only that the main character was a black woman but she had standards, and a backbone, and she wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with anyone, we love to see it.
