Another great read by Okorafor. 

A solid second novel in the universe of Winter’s Orbit of the Resolution Treaty and Orshan, although with an entirely different cast of folks. Readers and architects and neuromodifications take center stage in Ocean’s Echo. Queer love is the cherry on top and the very real way that our main characters learn to love each other because of their flaws. 

I liked Winter’s Orbit more, but am not sure if that’s just because my reading of that first book was less interrupted.

More Black girl magic, plant magic, plants as protectors, magical ancestry connected to gods and demigods of ancient Greece. Hecate and Hermes, Persephone and mermaids that will terrify and lull you to a watery grave. Lovely additional time with Bri, Marie, her moms, aunties, and the whole crew. 

What a fun read this was. SGJ hasn’t disappointed me yet, and this was a different setup than the other novels of his I’ve read. Definitely going to need to work my way through his back catalog. 

Laugh out loud darkly funny, and a great slasher that is simultaneously making good fun of the genre. 

Just didn't hit at the right time - was reading an electronic copy of the book, which may have contributed to the DNF. 

Oh Galaxy and crew what an adventure this is through the very depths of hell. Loved getting to know Dawes, Mercy, and Turner better in this novel. We also meet a vampire wuuuut!? Galaxy the Wheelwalker will be back soon, I hope! 

Political intrigue, arranged marriage that becomes love between our two protags, sabotage, a galactic empire that needs to renew its treaties, mysterious death of a royal, and what becomes this sweet supportive love 💜

Not my usual five star read, and maybe it was timing but who cares. I loved this book, and Kiem and Jainan and Bel et al.

Fascinating little horror novel by a new to me author. Read mostly in one sitting. 

Quickie little novella between thick bois this month and a new to me author. I’m curious where the other two novellas in this series will go but am unsure if I’ll continue.
