Found family! Heists! Cool magic system!

I loved the characters (well, specifically Enrique and Zofia, who both deserve the world). Laila is very overpowered, but I forgive her. I have mixed feelings about Séverin.

I really loved how anti-imperialist this book was, and I hope that continues in the sequels.

The stakes felt a little low at times, but then they were suddenly VERY high. I'm hoping that evens out a bit in the sequels.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes heists, found family, or fantasy.

This book is a perfect addition to the avatar universe. Kyoshi has a great journey as she comes into herself as the avatar. She's allowed to be violent and chaotic. She's very bi. She does crimes. She has a flying bison and a Fire Nation girlfriend and war fans.

I loved how morally grey all of the characters were in general. Everyone does bad things and ends up in complicated situations. I also loved what the characters did with bending, especially earthbending. There was so much fascinating innovation and experimentation.

Anyway, you should definitely read this book if you like this universe!

I really liked this book overall. The banter was fun. The characters were compelling—the side characters more so than the main characters. Myla is a new fave. I love her. I would read a whole book about her and Niko. I would also happily spend more time with Wes and Isaiah. Love them.

I feel like everyone has talked about the aspects of this book that they liked, and for me that was most things. But here are the things I didn't like:
- Jane didn't feel like a fully-fledged character. She was more like a fantasy of a sexy Asian butch lesbian.
- What version of 2020 was this book set in? And why wasn't it simply set in 2019 instead? That would have changed nothing to do with the plot.
- August is VERY dismissive of Jane's experiences with racism (and homophobia, for that matter) and doesn't interrogate her own privilege AT ALL.
- Maybe this is just me, but I really wanted some lyrics of more of the songs they listened to together. It was hard to see the significance of the music to the plot, and that made it harder to be invested in the romance.
- WAY too much public sex on the Q train, which is maybe the most unsanitary place I can think of.

Overall, this book was very enjoyable, but I would also fully understand if someone didn't like it and if these issues (and other ones) were too much for them.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this book. I was wary when I first heard that Hank Green had written a book, but honestly I don't think anyone else could have written this one. It's a fantastic take on internet fame that also uses music and science in really interesting ways. I could follow all the science aspects, which is very much a testament to Hank Green's science eductor side. April May was a great main character specifically because she IS so normal and she knows it. She doesn't think she's special. She doesn't really think she deserves her fame, but she also fully takes advantage of it and gets corrupted by it to an extent. That felt very realistic to me. Also, she's bi! Yay! I actually have slightly mixed feelings about how the bi rep was handled, but that's one of my only issues with this book, and it's really just about personal preference. Overall, I highly recommend this book, and I'm excited to read the sequel!

I enjoyed this book overall, but it took until the halfway point to get there. Hook was the more compelling point of view character, and we didn't get much of his point of view in the first half of the book (with the exception of the prologue), and being in Peter's head for that long got a bit tiring.

The premise was interesting and pretty well-executed. I won't spoil it beyond the fact that Peter is trans, but this book definitely did some interesting things with reality and fantasy and the Peter Pan story. I sort of wish there'd been more of that sort of thing/that it had been a slightly longer book, but it did do what it set out to do for its characters.

SPOILER: I'm just not sure what emotional impact Neverland was supposed to have on us.

It gets casually dropped in that the people who have been MURDERED weren't even real, and that means that we're not supposed to care about them anymore. I understand that we were focusing on the two main characters and their growth and all that, but I still felt like we should have spent some more time with that revelation in ways that we didn't. And also with the fact that Tinker Bell DID actually die.

I loved this book. It was very intense, which didn't bother me personally, but if violence and sexual assault are triggers for you, I would definitely recommend being cautious with it. I liked the sapphic romance, but the worldbuilding was definitely the main thing that drew me in and kept me hooked. It took me a while to get into the book, but once I really got going, I read the last 300 pages in one sitting.
