Overall I enjoyed the mystery and historical aspects to Map of Bones more than the first book in the series, Sandstorm. I felt the antagonist was a bit too intense and grotesque. Perhaps his character would have fit more in a horror, but for a political thriller it seemed a bit too much. I had slight issues with how the male characters talked about the women characters in Sandstorm, and unfortunately this was still the case. 

Interested in how the characters’ narratives overlap, but I’m just not gravitated towards literary or contemporary fiction right now. Definitely want to come back to this one!
