It's been a while since I've read a Cinda Williams Chima book, but I was absolutely obsessed with the Heir chronicles way back when. I'm pretty sure I've read The Warrior Heir like 5 or 6 times, at least. I loved it so much when I was in high school.

Chima does such a good job with world building in her books, while also casting them with characters that imediately draw you in. With the popularity of mythology for middle grade and teens, I think they'll be drawn to this one. There's magic, adventure, and a school where things aren't quite what they seem. Of course, it has to be the first in a new series, so I'm definitely going to have to read the other books!

Fair warning, though, this is the start to a new series, and it ends on a pretty big cliffhanger. Don’t say I didn’t warn you before jumping in!

Though I don’t actually know a ton about Celtic mythology, I was engrossed in this book from the beginning. Neve has such a strong voice, which makes it easy to jump into this book. There’s kind of a lot that needs to be established for this world, but Fay doesn’t make it feel too info-dumpy. It feels natural with the story, which isn’t always easy to do with fantasy books!

The romance at the center of the book is also well-written. Neve and Alexandria have great chemistry, and I love how she gets Neve to actually participate in teenager things. She folds her into a new little friend group, and they are all just great together. I can’t wait to read more about them in the next book.

Absolutely can’t wait to read the sequel! 

I love these comics re-imagined for middle grade readers! It's a good way to make comics accessible to kids who might otherwise be intimated by the sheer volume of Marvel comics there are out there. Plus, the tone and the storylines fit well for a middle grade audience.

While I didn't necessarily like the villain in this one as much as the first one, we still get that signature Miles energy. He's such a fun character to read, and his family and friends are just as entertaining. The art style also works well for this story, especially the action scenes. So much Spider-Man fun!

I hope this makes it into the hands of young, excited comics readers who will be encouraged to jump into comics in the future!

The art in this book is magical! It really transports you to this magical garden landscape, and I loved the illustrations of flowers throughout. If you're looking for a book that's a quick, cozy read, this is definitely something I'd recommend. It fits along the lines of Tea Dragon Society, and could be a good kind of palette cleanser if you need something after a particularly sad book.

There's not a whole lot to the actual story; it's relatively simple and pretty adorable in itself. Some of the characters and the world had potential to be expanded a little more, but it's still an enjoyable read of itself. Wisteria finds purpose in helping Elena with her garden, and eventually gets everyone else to help. Seriously adorable if you're looking for something sweet!

My favorite thing about this series is the art. The colors, the way the characters are drawn, I just love the whole style. It really works well for this Greek mythology re-telling, honestly. It also helps bring all of these characters to life, even if I don't always remember who is who is Greek mythology. But I digress.

Persephone might be my favorite character, at least so far. There's just something about her that's so warm and welcoming. I think it's hilarious in this one that they point out the age difference between her and Hades, because that's the case in so many fantasy romances like this. More fantasy books that kind of poke fun at that, please!

All in all, I'll probably keep reading this becuase it's enjoyable and fun and just really entertaining to read.

I listened to this entire audiobook today, so I'd say the story is definitely engaging. It's a character-driven exploration of grief and coping with the loss of a loved one, especially a parent. But there are also conversations about art, about writing, and about dating/relationships. There's a little bit of something for everyone in this book. 

The characters are really what drive this story, especially Jamison and his art project. He's trying to find a way to connect with his mother who had passed away from cancer with his camera. I honestly loved the concept of his project, taking photos at 9:09, which was the time that his mother passed away. There's a lot of reflection in this book, and while sometimes that kind of book can seem slow, Parsons still did a good job keeping up the pace.

I don't think this book got a lot of buzz or promotion, but it's definitely one to keep on your radar!

Objectively, I think this book is well-written. I'd definitely classify it more as literary fiction than young adult, though. I don't necessarily think the author wrote this book iwith teens in mind, as it reads much more like an adult book than a YA. Yes, for a good majority of the book, the narrator is a teenager, but that doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be place in the young adult section.

I did have a hard time getting into this book because it's incredibly slow moving and while the content is interesting and important, it wasn't enough to capture my attention. There are people who will absolutely love this book, and I can see why it's getting good reviews, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Well, this was adorable and lovely. It's my first Talia Hibbert book, but you know, I mostly read YA, so. It shouldn't be that surprising. But the way they develop characters and write such a cute romance, maybe I'll have to delve into the adult romance to read Hibbert's other books! I have heard spectacular things about them, after all. 

Outside of Brad and Celine, the supporting cast of characteres was just as well developed. Plus, we get to see some great mental health rep, as Brad lives with OCD. Getting to see both of their points of views really helped develop the romance between them, as they are just perfect for each other and have fantastic chemistry.

Teen readers will definitely be drawn to this romance, and I can't wait to recommend it to them!

This was a wild ride! The action started at the beginning and didn't stop. There were moments throughout this where I thought "is this actually happening?" It's part mystery, part thriller, part horror, and part dystopia. There are so many teens that I think are going to absolutely eat this up, because it's all of their favorite genres combined into one book.

Just when you think you have everything figured out in this book, Giles introduces a new twist that makes you rethink everything you just read. So far, I think this is my favorite thing I've read by him. It's engaging, fast-paced, and the audiobook is just fantastic.
