Oh this was a <i>delight</i>. A nonbinary vampire, their adorable little vampire friends, a f/f witch/vampire couple that basically adopts them. So much queer rep and nobody even blinks an eye! I stumbled across this book when researching queer books for work and I'm so so happy I picked it up.

Honestly, I would have been happy if this didn't have any plot, if it was just Drago and their friends going around on different vampire adventures. I would read a whole series about them and their adventures! While some of the flashbacks made some of the story a bit confusing, I was just happy to read about these great little vampires. It's just so fun!

Quite honestly, there's so much I don't remember from the first volume of this, it took me a little to get into this story. Mostly because I had to remember all of the characters. From what I do remember, though, this is a great extension of the world building from the first book. Comparing this to a mix of Paper Girls and the Hardy Boys is definitely accurate. With that ending, I'm definitely interested in reading the next one!

An emotional novel in verse about first love, friendship, and the possibility of losing that love. There are some absolutely gorgeous lines in this book. Woodfolk definitely gets to the core of the emotions of the main characters, and they are emotions that some teens will relate to. Love can feel so devastating at that age, and Woodfolk absolutley captures that.

At times, the jumping between timelines does get a little confusing, especially since none of the characters are named. Despite this, you still get fully developed characters, and even some of the side characters. Once you start it, it will be difficult to put down.

This book is basically a blend of magic and myth and history and it feels pretty unique for a young adult book. I can't really think of that many books that are like it. Most of the events that happen are based on true historical events, with a little leeway when it comes to the retelling and the more fantastical elements.

As expected, this book gets heavy emotionally, set after WWII and heavily discussed the oppression of Hungarian Jews during and after the war. But even with all of the emotional elements, Locke is still able to feature moments of joy. While I didn't necessarily always understand everything that was going on (especiallly when it came to the magical parts; I think this is partly because I listened to it instead), I was captivated by this story. Highly recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction with a little bit of magical realism.

Thanks to NetGalley and HarperTeen for an advanced copy of Some Mistakes Were Made to review! After seeing this book all over Instagram, I needed to see what all the hype was about. While this book will take you on an emotional roller coast, the characters are worth it.

One of the things that makes this book so engaging is the way the plot is formatted. Interspersed with flashbacks, we don’t get the entire story until the very end. Instead, Dwyer gives us bits and pieces throughout, seeing if you can connect the dots on your own. In this way, we also get to know Ellis, Easton, and Easton’s entire family. We get a better picture of the overall situation. And it’s guaranteed to hook you from the beginning.

Outside of the plot structure, Dwyer writes characters you can’t help by care about. And not just the main characters, either. All of Easton’s brothers have personalities and are fully fleshed out. In fact, they help with building the relationship between Easton and Ellis throughout the book. The teenage angst! You can definitely feel it througohut the book.

Overall, this is an emotional, vulnerable book that you likely won’t want to put down until it’s finished. I know I didn't!

Adorable, lovely, did I expect anything else when it features Nick and Charlie? What I liked about this was we get to see Nick and Charlie as older, and we get more internal monologue from both of them. You kind of miss out on that in graphic novel form (except for their journal entries). We get more conflict from them in this than we've seen in the graphic novels, and I think that just makes their relationship all the more complex.

Honestly, you can see how much Oseman's writing has grown since publishing [book:Solitaire|20618110]. I will read pretty much anything she writes!

Aaannndd everything wraps up in this one! Seriously, one of my favorite things about this series is the art and the colors used throughout. They just work so well for the story, and it makes the book even more engaging. Does the ending get a little emotional! Yes, yes it does. But honestly, what do you expect from Brian K. Vaughan?

Ooo some plot twists in this one! I'm actually really enjoying how everything is ending up fitting together. There are some things I definitely didn't see coming, and it really helps just to reinforce the world. Plus, getting some answers is always nice!

Things are starting to come together in this volume! Honestly, the Y2K references are absolutely hilarious. It really helps to set the tone and kind of fits the doom and gloom of the overall time travel story. Things are starting to brew between some characters, too!

The stakes get risen even higher in this one! We get to learn a little more about time travel and get introduced to some new, interesting characters. The relationships between the main group of girls are also continuously expanding and I'm excited to see where they go next!
