This is the beginning of a new series and I cannot wait for more. There is nothing better than a lovable crime fighting team. There are some great characters. There are also some vile characters which makes the story so much better. The cult aspect is so interesting, especially with how Eve is connected to it. The crime kept me guessing and the reveal was so disturbing. I did find it was slow in places and it was a bit repetitive, mainly with descriptions of the team members. The descriptions of proper police procedure also dragged. However, it's a great read and if you love crime or cults then definitely check this one out.

This book follows on from The Lines of Happiness and I definitely think you need to have read that first as it doesn’t offer any sort of recap. The only thing I think it did need to reiterate is that it’s set in 1998 which makes Lo’s hesitancy to come out make even more sense. The scene setting is beautiful and you can really picture the gorgeous winter Wyoming scenery.

There are some great recurring characters as well as some new ones to fall in love with. I love that you get to see that a new relationship isn’t always sunshine and rainbows especially when you’re also discovering your sexuality in a conservative town. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first one just because there is so much angst and no communication. Some of their actions felt very immature. It also seemed to wrap up very quickly after a whole book of arguments and build up. However, the end was adorable and the relationships, romantic and platonic are beautiful. I also love the horsey element.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s my first from this author but I will definitely be checking out the other book in this series. They are set in the same place and have recurring characters but each book focuses on a different couple. The descriptions were beautifully done and I felt like I was there with them. I also adored the horsey element, especially the endurance side. Definitely recommend if you are an animal lover.

Ty and Leslie are both such lovable characters and they both felt extremely human and well rounded. It’s a cute romance with some added spice. However, the vulnerability of the two made it so much deeper and it was so nice to see a couple that actually communicated. I loved the healing element of both horse and human. I also really liked the diverse representation, especially with regards to mental health issues. I’m going to need a book with Zoe now though because I love her character so much.
