This is a great series but Drown her Sorrows can be read as a stand alone. I love this series because there are so many great characters. I adore Bree and her adorable family as well as watching her relationship with Matt grow. It’s also great to see her adapt and settle in with her new team and deal with the heartbreak in her past.
With regards to the plot, there are a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes and keep you guessing. I was hooked until the end and the suspense had me on the edge of my seat. It’s a great pace. I look forward to more from this team.

This can be read as a stand alone but I wish I had read them in order because it talks about what happens in the first book. I will, however, be going back to read book one because I really enjoyed Nikki’s character. There aren’t many twists and turns in this book but it’s written so well it had me hooked until the end. It also kept me guessing with regard to the bad guy. I look forward to getting to know Nikki better.

I loved this book. It honestly blows my mind how rich people live. The jets sounded bigger than my house. Above & Beyond is a look into the scandalous and exciting lives of the extremely wealthy. It was written well and I felt like I was there with Saskia. Saskia seems like such a likable person and I loved getting a glimpse into her life and her friendship with the team. It’s definitely not a job I could do but I very much enjoyed reading about it. This is a quick easy read that I could not put down. I just wish we got a bit more detail about her jobs post Russian.

I have read all of the Helen Grace series and I love it. This wasn’t my favourite book from the series but it is still a great read. I found the Helen & Hudson storyline distracted from the plot and the pace was a bit off. I did guess the link but if you don’t look too hard into how realistic it is it was still a gripping read. I also think Garanita makes such a great added villain because she is just so vile. If you hate cliff hanger endings this might not be the book for you but I am looking forward to reading the next installment.

As with all of the Kim Stone series, I loved this book. It had me hooked from beginning to end. My only gripe would be that Penn & Bryant didn’t have as big a role as they normally do and I adore their characters. That being said I really enjoyed seeing a softer side to both Kim & Frost and I love their banter. Is this the start of a new friendship?
With regards to the case, it’s a gory one. If you don’t like gruesome descriptions then this probably isn’t the one for you. The murders also kept me guessing until the end and the interesting motive added that little bit extra. There’s also a secondary case going on with Frost writing an article about a woman who was murdered by her rich and powerful husband after years of abuse. Things get heated and this definitely adds to the fantastic pace of the book.
The twists and turns in both plotlines made it difficult to put down and the ending has me impatiently waiting for the next book. I keep expecting a dud in this series because it’s been going so long but I think they’re actually getting better.

This book doesn't live up to the title. It has to be the tamest serial killer book I've read. Definitely not a gory serial killer. I also found it quite similar to Jeneva Rose's Perfect Marriage and the twist very predictable. The dialogue was stilted, Beth's character was annoying and not particularly likable and the other characters didn't really add anything. The pace was also slow making the whole thing long winded. That being said if you like your crime books without the gory murders then this might be for you
This wasn't what I was expecting from this book but it was a gripping read full of so many emotions. I expected to hate Chrissie but I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. It's a dark story but it's written well. We get to see the plot unfold from the POV of 8 year old Chrissies and adult Julia as she tries to move on and be a good mother. The chapters from the child's POV were written so well it really felt like I was listening to a child. It's a tough and heartbreaking read but I couldn't stop thinking about it.
I loved Bethany’s first book, No Big Deal, and I think that left high expectations for this book which unfortunately wasn’t as good. It’s a great easy read but it just lacked a bit of substance. Nothing much really seemed to happen but we also didn’t really get to know the characters that well. However, we love a fat babe who loves herself and calls people out on their fatphobia.
I think it is a great book for teens to read to see that uni isn’t the only option for them. This book also covers important topics like racism and homophobia and yay for some Bi representation. I did think the ending was predictable and a bit rushed but it was cute in the end. However, the middle part was kinda awkward.
All in all, I’d say it’s a nice quick and easy body positive read for teens in that in between stage who are maybe figuring out their sexuality or what they want to do after school. Also if you haven’t already, check out No Big Deal for a great body positive read.

It took me a while to get into this book because in some of the first chapters the pace was a bit off. I also found the chapters just switched perspective halfway through which got a bit confusing. Once I got into a rhythm though I really enjoyed it.
Kjeld is a complicated character and I kind of had a love/hate relationship with him. He’s your standard lead detective who is terrible at having a personal life and Tove and Bengt deserve better but I did end up warming to Kjeld. I also loved Esme and thought they made a great team. With regards to the murders, the detectives were slow to work out the motive but I had no idea who the bad guy was which kept me hooked. The only thing that let it down in my opinion is I’m not a fan of the cliffhanger threat endings. I have however already gone and bought book 1.

After the traumatic events of book 7 I wasn't sure whether I was going to continue with this series but curiosity and my love for the characters made me come crawling back. Was it worth it? I don't think so.
The author loves a shock ending with a huge reveal but this one just didn't make sense to me. It all just seemed to be for the shock value. Nothing had ever hinted it could be that person.
Then what was left of the team was just a mess and didn't work. Matilda seemed to be the only one still affected and definitely shouldn't have been back at work. She bullied her way through a case and cost people their lives or caused major injury and just glossed over it.
I did enjoy the actual murder case, getting an insight into the prostitutes world and who they are as actual people. Unfortunately poor Carl's case is still being dragged out and we have yet another threatening cliff hanger ending.
Will I come back for more? Probably purely because I loved the first 6 books so so much but if it stays with this kind of pattern then I'm going to have to say goodbye to one of my favourite teams.
