As soon as I read the dedication of this book I knew I was onto a winner. As a horse girl, this book was everything I needed. I loved that we got to see more of the horses and that Lucy showed that there are good equestrians out there but a lot of work needs to be done in the industry to protect horses.
This is a book that makes you feel all the emotions. Both Nathan & Candice have trauma in their pasts which adds to the angst. I felt like they both needed a massive hug. I shed a tear or two and also sobbed at a certain part (check tw).

I loved the banter, especially when they "hated" each other. They definitely made me laugh. The romance was super cute though. The way they both worked out what each other needed and showed up for them. Candice's confidence growing was beautiful to witness as was Nathan letting people in. It has the perfect balance of sweet & spicy.

There are so many lovable side characters and I hope we get to see more of them. We love a supportive brother. I need a Beau & Jenny story but I'm also so intrigued by Winnie. Star Mountain Rescue is a dream location and I can't wait to return.

This book had me hooked from the start. It's fast paced and full of tension that kept me on the edge of my seat. Each new bit of evidence reveals something else from Emily's time in captivity and what she had to endure. I was stressed for poor Emily and the secrets she was trying to keep.

I really liked Emily Ray. She's experienced a lot of trauma and uses it to help stop other kids from ending up like her. The more we learnt about her and her past the more I loved her. She's so badass. Her family is so adorable.

I can't wait to dive into book 2 . Definitely recommend if you love crime thrillers.

If you love your romance to come with a side of angst, then this is the book for you. Also the book for you if you enjoy crying. It will make you feel all of the emotions, and I loved every second of it. This is such an incredible debut

I fell in love with Asher & Halle pretty quickly. The dual POV in both the present day & flashbacks helps you understand what they've been through and why they are who they are. The portrayal of anxiety and panic attacks was done really well. It was so beautiful to watch Halle feel safe and grow.

The healing of the relationship between Halle and Hunter was emotional. The balance between the romance and family was done perfectly. It was so heartbreaking to learn about why they had been split up.

The 3rd act conflict brings some drama and definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but I couldn't put it down until I finished. Asher & Hunter's bromance is cute.

The found family is perfect and there are so many lovable characters. The girls taking in Halle as one of their own and helping her have fun whilst feeling safe melted my heart. The banter is excellent and Connor is hilarious.

Sunlit Cove sounds like a magical place and I can't wait to return. This book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger relating to another character and I need their book asap.

The Devil's Cut

Andrew James Greig

DID NOT FINISH: 6%

I don't think this author is for me. I read the first book in this series and whilst I liked it, it didn't wow me. After seeing this author's writing style I tried to get into book 2 but it was a struggle. It 's pretty long winded and slow paced. I found my attention constantly wavering. I didn't gel with any of the characters either. so it ended up as a DNF. While not for me I will say the murders are always cleverly done.
