I always love Bethany’s fantastic fat characters and Big Date Energy is no exception. The unapologetic fat babe representation was so beautiful to read and I also really enjoyed the queer and specifically bi representation as well. There’s a diverse range of lovable characters. Fran’s mum was probably one of my favourite characters. She was just so cute. I did however want to punch her brother in the face.

This is a fun beach read that had me laughing along. Fran’s dates were entertaining although I did find they got a bit repetitive towards the end. I wish we had more of the dating show and Fran & Ivy content to focus a bit more on the romance aspect. I found myself not really invested in whether they got together because we didn’t get to see a lot of them. However, I really loved that this showed that you can live without being in a relationship and that the love of friends and family is just as important.

mysterious slow-paced

This was my first book by this author and once again I fell for the overhyped book with a beautiful cover. It takes slow burn to the next level. Nothing really happens in the first half of the book and it drags. There are also so many characters to keep track of that we don’t get to know any of them bar Cass. It made it confusing and I wasn’t emotionally connected to any of them. The main twist was predictable although the final twist was a nice surprising extra. The chapters from the accident that slowly reveal what happened were interesting.

This book was super cute. I will say that there is a lot going on and there are a lot of characters to keep track of. However, there are so many lovable supporting characters and I would love to see some of their stories too. The found family aspect melted my heart. I need a Hogrid in my life. So freaking cute. The small town setting was perfect and it sounds like such a great place to live. It adds some eccentric side plots but they were so fun to read. The hunt was hilarious.

As for the romance, I loved the badass strong woman supporting the man. I could've done without the obsession with how tiny Rayah was though. Also, Cupcake was a super cute nickname until it got used in every other sentence. The sass and banter made me laugh though. Jake’s flirting was a bit cheesy but it still made me smile. He was pretty adorable.

I am a huge fan of the POTs representation. I loved seeing Jake’s character grow and watching him learn to accept his invisible disability. As someone with POTs who plays sport, it was so nice to see a team help him find different ways to adapt. The whole disability aspect was so well done. There was also some panic attack representation which was written well.

My only criticism was that although it is spaced over a couple of months the time jumps still made it feel a bit insta love which isn’t my bag. They also fall hard fast but they were cute so I can let it slide. The 3rd act conflict does have some miscommunication which also isn’t my favourite but it was done well enough that I wasn’t mad at it. It feels like a lot happens in the last 1/4 of the book and the ending felt a bit rushed. It was still a fun read and I was rooting for them throughout.

When I started this book I was convinced it was going to be a 5 star read but at about the half way point it lost me. I thought I was going to hate Ashley because her actions at the start are terrible but she soon grew on me & I felt sorry for her. Gabe was the opposite. I enjoyed the start of the fake dating and them winding each other up but the tension didn't last long enough for me. They were obsessed with each other way too quickly.

I didn't reall understand Gabriel. He kept saying that he wasn't the good guy everyone thought he was but all he seemed to be hiding was a couple mistakes as a CHILD and the fact that he liked sex. He also turned into a massive dick at the end. I hated the way he treated Ashley in the 3rd act conflict and their was nowhere near enough apologizing and grovelling. I honestly didn't want them to end up together and Ashley ended up coming across as pathetic instead of the badass she should've been.

It is a quick easy read with spice and it did make me laugh. I was disappointed in the ending though.

I adore this series. Nikki is a fantastic character and I love her team. She also has an adorable family although they aren’t featured as much in this one. As with all the books in this series, I was kept guessing until the end. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked. It was such an intriguing crime and it was interesting seeing them try to solve a cold case in order to help find the missing girl. There are a couple of suspects to throw you off and I couldn’t put it down.

This was a fun easy read with a sprinkle of spice. I liked both main characters and was rooting for them. Their first meeting was full of sparks and it was fun seeing them react when they unexpectedly see each other again and have to work together. The tension was increased by them trying to resist each other but I enjoyed that they still respected that they had a job to do and it wasn’t personal even if they weren’t happy about it. The drama is amped up by both of them having crappy parents and I loved seeing them stand up for themselves and each other. I had kind of worked out how it was going to end but I didn’t know how they were going to fix it so that was fun to read. I did find the ending felt a bit abrupt but it was still a great read and the romance was cute.
