I am conflicted in a way about this book. I absolutely devoured it. I read most of it in one sitting just completely absorbed in the characters and their lives.

However the ending was flat. It wasn’t really an ending, just a pause. I flicked the page expecting another chapter and there wasn’t one. Although it only took me two days to read the book, I was invested in the characters, I want to know how it ends for them.

Normal People is exceptionally written, it is a gritty story, no shiny happy love story here. Imperfect people muddling their way through life. The characters are so real, I felt like I could feel what they were feeling. Especially Connell. I just wish I had a little bit more!

Definitely my least favourite of the three books, I almost felt like this book was from a different author. The storyline just went too far for my liking, I know Vampire aren’t really anyway, but the idea of these sort of books is to make you believe that there is a possibility that they are out there, but having magic babies with them and all these super powers just took the book away from the subtle tastes of the supernatural in the first two.

My dislike of Bella grew more in this book too, she is not a strong female character, her entire happiness is dependant on this boy, she gives up everything for him, and not in a heroic sacrificing herself for him sort of way. In a pathetic I will give up everything just to have you way. It’s my belief that she is not a good role model for young women at all.

Can we also just remember that Bella is 17/18 in this book, and she has gone from a virginal high school student to a married mother who can’t stop having sex in the blink of an eye, in a relationship that has probably lasted a few months in total.

It was a case of having to read this book just to get the ending to the story, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
