2021: Just finished re-reading, this time with my 4 year old. We finished the last story this morning and he asked if we could read another one. I told him that was the last story in the book. "I mean, can we read the first one again?"

So, here we go - my third time with this book!

His favourite cats are Captain Captain and Mustard, with the later edition of Minky (because she loves cheddar and he does too). My favourites are Hemdela because she likes soup, and Grigorovitch because he looks snuggly. Honourable mention to Clasby.

This book was everything I needed and more. I can understand why some people find it too confusing/challenging - it is not an easy read. Lindberg does not give you answers, or even plot, right away. She drip feeds you when she believes you to be ready. To some this might be frustrating. It is certainly an excercise in trust. But when you get it, when it finally clicks, it is all there for you. Everything you need from a book like this.

If you are looking for an experience, look no further.
