I wanted to like this book more as I had hoped for a certain story after his second part of the series. This, however, was not worth the time it took to read it. With the exception of the last 20 or so pages, the build up is just one huge exposition with no pay off; the reader learns nothing new per say, and therefore has no ability to bond with the main characters. Liir at least had some redeeming qualities in the second novel, but Brr lacks any sort of connection to the reader. I struggled immensely to finish this knowing that I have a few on my list I could have gotten too much quicker. Reading this was a necessary evil for someone who has a thing about finishing series. Here's to hoping the 4th installment makes up for the lack of vibrant storytelling Maquire is quite obviously capable of.
