I bought this book to read as part of my research for a college project. I wanted to learn more about mental health from the perspective of someone who has been in a psychiatric hospital.
I was not disappointed by this book. I initially found it a bit scatty and all over the place, and then as the main character started to get better and to be a lot more sure of herself it became clearer. I loved this effect, it encompasses mental illness in a nutshell. A person suffering with depression, suicidal thoughts, personality disorders... they aren't in a straightforward state of mind and so neither is their thought process.
This was very clever, and I am happy to have read this book.

I don't even know how to put into words how much I loved this book. I started reading it at midnight and finished it just as the sun was rising, and I can't do that with a lot of books.
For me, it was slightly predictable, but not completely. I was still surprised and in awe at some of the plot twists.
The characters are really easy to like and they really drew me in. I felt sympathetic towards Sutter and I instantly fell in love with Aimee's character.
I loved how the story flowed, and how you could tell that Aimee had affected and changed Sutter's life through her kind nature. She taught him that he can be loved and love people back. He just needs to open himself up to it, and to possible heart break.
Altogether a lovely read, really enjoyable!
