I can't imagine experiencing something like this - but Vonnegut has a way of bringing it to life. He's able to depict these awful scenes, but use humour at just the right moment and in just the right way to keep things from getting too heavy.

The reason I finally read this is because Mike Frost used it as an illustration of how discipleship looks. This coloured my entire reading, and I must say that I agree. What a beautiful depiction of cooperation and working together for the greater good amidst really terrible things happening.
Also, I most identified with Fiver, which I'm sure will surprise no one.
