Once they started moving, this series got a lot more interesting.

The characters are realistic, but it didn't pique my personal interest.

A rare case where the movie is better than the book. Gene Wilder brings out the creepy mysteriousness of Willy Wonka much better (and maybe incorrectly) than Dahl portrays him in the book. I feel that the book Mr. Wonka is just more wacky with no purpose, whereas movie Wonka seems to have more depth behind him. I may need to give this a re-read, though.
