Modern calligraphy has been on my list of things to learn for a few years now. I see all of the beautiful typography created with this style of writing and it is fantastic. I attempted (and failed) a few times to recreate the calligraphy and it turned me off to learning it at all.

This book is super informative. It has the same style of teaching as a kindergarten child’s letter learning books. Which means it is easy for me to follow it and attempt it for myself.

I will be putting some serious time in with this book to see if I can actually learn how to do modern calligraphy.

Max’s box is a wonderful story about a boy named Max who has a box that will fit anything. Any size, any shape, anything. This includes, he finds out, his feelings that make him uncomfortable. Over time the box becomes to big to manage and keeps max in its shadow. Eventually with the help of his friends, family and neighbors Max is able to let it go.

“It’s okay to have all kinds of feelings... but once you feel them, their job is done.”

With the added bonus of tips for parents in the back I found this book fantastic in learning about feelings for children (and adults)

I would absolutely use this as a tool for my kids.

The Big Book of Monsters is a fantastic book! Monsters from all over the world. Monsters I grew up fearing and monsters I have never heard of.

The information and extra tidbits on each monster was very interesting to read and the illustrations were vivid and popping. I loved the style of artwork throughout this book.

I would love to have an entire collection of informative books like this on my shelves. Fun to look at and interesting to read.

How to Catch a Dragon is a story about s young boy and his friends trying to catch a dragon for good fortune. He is spending time with his mother and grandmother when he takes off on an adventure.

I liked the story. It was cute and fun to read. The illustrations were colourful and great the way the dragon always evaded them, always just out of frame.

It was pretty interesting how there were translations at the end of the book. Learning new languages is always fun.

This book follows Dylan the Dump Truck as he learns a lesson in paying attention. This is an important lesson al kids (and some adults) need to learn.

My 17 month old son loved this book. It was simple and easy language. The illustrations were colorful and fun.

I loved the illustrations in this book.

However there are so many first word books I didn’t feel this stood out.

A good learning tool for children.

A cute story about the hope from a little boy Finn when his dog Comet becomes ill and has to spend the night at the vets.

Finns dad gave him a torch (flashlight) and keep hope in his heart for Comet. He sent his hope out into the night and the sky came to life with light.

I love the illustrations in this book. They were very cute and I loved the colors used.

I didn’t enjoy this book. I felt was quickly drawn and rushed illustrations.

I did like the contrast of colors on the black background.

I loved the non religious aspects of this book. How special and loved the baby bear is. How much love the momma bear has for the baby bear. I also really w noted the soft colors and illustrations.

Beyond that this book wasn’t really for me.

This book is simply written and illustrated with vibrant colors. I adored the diversity in the illustrations.

Be proud of who you are. Be accepting of others. Be an ally.

This book teaches simply acceptance and hope. Love is love.
