I really enjoyed this version of the classic tale.
The writing was a little more on the dark side and would be good for older children who maybe already know of the tale.
The accompanying art is disturbing and imaginative, all in black and white.
And at the end, their is a brief section that talks about the history of the story from around the world.

On the continuation of book to film adaptations...
I absolutely loved this cheesey film when it came out! I had just finished school, had been out as queer for a long while, but was just coming out as Trans*
The book was even better.
I am a sucker for a cheesey fan-fiction style storyline. I can appreciate the disgusting cringeyness and, as long as it's well written and carries a strong moral, still adore it!
This book gave me a slice of my queer teenage boy hood that I'm still wishing I could have experienced. And I would recommend to all teens as a wonderful LGBT+ YA novel.
