After her ship is badly damaged in a shoot-out and a wild ride through a black hole, Captain Tess Bailey and her crew come to reluctantly rely on the swash-buckling Shade Ganavan. Tess is on the run from her family who are desperate for something within her, a secret that can both a medical cure or a military weapon, depending who gets there hands on it.
What Tess doesn't know is that Shade is a mercenary with his own secrets and he knows about the bounty on Tess's head, a bounty that will finally allow him to retire from his bounty hunting business.
But why isn't Shade turning Tess in? Probably because he's captivated by the tall, beautiful, and badass Captain who is fighting to right the wrong's of an evil ruler, one mission at a time.
For those looking for an epic space opera that is exciting, funny, and has SPACE CATS, this will be the perfect way to start your 2019!

Oh do I love when a romance starts with a bang, and this may be one of the hottest first chapters I've read in recent memory.
So steamy and just *this* close to feeling a bit wrong, Messy is both a deliciously erotic age-gap romance AND a stark portrayal of grief and caring for a dying parent while also trying to find your own place in the world.
Read this one when you need a good punch in the heart and a fire in your loins, sexy British rock king included.
CW cancer, sick parent who dies during the story, drug/alcohol use, hero is 20 years older than the heroine.

Well, JenReadsRomance does it again, throwing out a delightfully filthy rec that you can't help but one-click.
She's a student, there just two bro-friends who give her a place to stay when she needs it, in their home and eventually in their hearts. That's the nice summary. The sassy summary is these two bros realize she's perfect for them and they are all perfect together. I loved how the triad formed and how the two guys fell for each other too.
CW for a throwaway line about the girl thinking she was asexual but she's definitely not and I didn't like how it was used.

Photographer has mad chemistry with the beautiful quarterback she's photographing for a nude charity calendar. Finn is nothing but a playboy though right? And Chess has no interest in a one night stand... Finn has also never had a relationship but he's determined to slowly prove to Chess he's willing to go the distance for her.
A smoldering, sensual romance I adored.
CW for discussion of miscarriage and fertility, some scary hospital stuff

An enjoyable enough listen thanks to the Aussie narrator and the sizzling chemistry between Tanner and Matilda. I love a good second-chance romance, especially when they are childhood sweethearts, but this story hasn't aged well over all.
There's a lot of secrets between both characters that would have been easily fixable with one conversation, lots of slamming around sex without taking a moment to talk about their problems, and Tanner uses his size to physically prevent Matilda from leaving during a fight, and he doesn't honor her requests to stop, put her down, or any of it. Instead he arouses her and they have angry sex.
I like Andrews writing style this one just didn't work that well for 2020 COVID19 Beth.

And I though St. Vincent was an alpha-hole. Whew. So, Lillian is a doll and she deserved better than having Westcliffe take her virginity while she was tanked on pear brandy spirits. And the way he treated her after she woke up with a hangover? Not cool.
Honestly St. Vincent was more gentlemanly to Lillian until that whole kidnapping thing which I'm still aghast about.
Also, I found this pretty dull. Poor Lillian and her sister and her friends are at Westcliffe's estate and there's not a lot going on but girls putting on aphrodisiac perfume and getting man handled in the hedge maze.
I'm struggling with these older Kleypas titles and this may be my least favorite of all.

I love Kate Canterbary's work and this was a fun, quick novella to read. I liked being back in the Talbott's Cove world and seeing some of my favorites, especially JJ and Brooke.
Gus and Neera's animosity wasn't built up enough for me to believe they were ever truly enemies, but hey their romance is short, hot, and forever.
I did like the exploration, however brief, of Neera's discovery she kind of likes sex in semi-public places, but not enjoying that kink around her friends and family, which Gus absolutely honored and also felt the same about. I don't typically enjoy BJ scenes, but this story had quite an exceptional one.

I'd have typically DNFed this mafia romance after the heroine gloated in her head that she was pleased she could eat all the tacos she wants but her work nemesis could only eat salads. Gross. But I wasn't wanting to read anything else anyway so here we are. Definitely not my sub-genre.
I was also feeling a little lost as the love interests in this book must have had sex and met for the first time in the first book of the series, but I caught up pretty quickly. I'm not compelled to keep reading this series.
And alas, the sexy times were surprisingly tame, boo, and there was some fat phobia and some eye-brow raising alphahole behavior.
Part of a series, I am going to be releasing this one to the little free library in my neighborhood.

A quick, fun, and delightful novella featuring two pining idiots who are scared to ruin their friendship and run with their feelings. A great twist on the best friend's little sister trope, especially in the care taken to reject that form of toxic masculinity. Another fun hit from Hibbert. And wow that couch scene is FIRE!

Lady Janet Fraser is told she must leave the court and travel to her new estate along with the formerly convent bound Lady Marjorie Hepburn, now Janet's ward. To ensure they arrive safely the king assigns his champion Sir Lachlan "the Beast" Ross to guide them hence.
Janet, once the king's lover, and recently-ish widowed, has always had a tender for the Beast, but is also finding the virginal Lady Marjorie quite alluring. What is a domme to do when she also discovers they both are eager to kneel before her feet? Why find a sturdy chaise and engage a delightfully delicious love affair of course.
But the queen is still angry with both Janet and Marjorie, and a plot to wed Marjorie off to a much older man means Lachlan must marry if she is to stay, threatening all of their lives as they defy the king.
So entirely sexy, I ate this one right up. I always appreciate Davidson's care in her characters and the care they take of each other. This becomes truly a match of equals once they navigate some prickly issues, namely Marjorie's willingness to have children and Janet's inability to become pregnant.
