Instead of waiting to die from his terminal cancer, 16 year old Travis Coates instead decides to have his head cryogenic-ally frozen, hoping someday in the future he can return, healthy. Saying goodbye to his girlfriend, parents, and family, he goes to sleep.

Five years later, but in a blink of an eye to Travis, he's back with an awesome new body. Travis soon learns that five years is enough time for people to have mourned him and moved on. Caitlin his girlfriend is engaged, his parents make him go back to his old high school, and his best friend is still living a lie. Will Travis every get back to normal, or was this second life a big mistake?

Pretty cool concept, but Whaley was a little to light on the science for my personal taste (more please)! However, what I found most unrealistic (reattaching heads to bodies besides) was the fact they made poor Travis go back to his old High School a measly three weeks after "waking up." Way harsh. But, fun none the less.

**This review is based on an ARC from Netgalley, thank you!

In Real Life explores the dichotomy between the communities in massive online role playing games and "real life" through high schooler Anda's experiences. What does it mean to be a girl in this male dominated video game world? Is it right for players to break the rules of the game to make a livelihood? Lushly illustrated with a water color type effect which I adored, In Real Life is both amusing and socially conscious. Would be a great addition to any Teen graphic novel collection.

Cats can't take over the world because they can't organize. Never a more true statement (or comic book issue).

A wonderful, colorful, and girl-power tour de force, fun for all ages. I can't think of a better series to hand to young girls (and boys too) who visit my library.

A really great parenting advice book that I would recommend to any with a crazy toddler running around. Frost has a gentle yet firm style that I admire and hope to emulate. Some of the writing gets a bit repetitive but is really meant to continuously reinforce her central themes.

Review to come...

The story of Pudge and his fellow boarding school friends hit me like a punch in the gut. Sometimes a really horrible thing happens and Green did an excellent job of sussing out how sometimes you really are never going to understand why.

Wow. Review to come.

Tight and compact as a ballet dancer's body, but just as full of power, grace, and movement. Astonish Me was simply a delight to read. As a non-dancer, I felt drawn into the world of ballet, and could easily visualize each movement and gesture.

Highly recommend.

I really wanted to like this and had high hopes going in. The world building, with a direct link to Russian history and language was exciting, but unfortunately I did not connect with the characters especially when romance was thrown into the mix. I'm tired of the savior of the known world trope where a character unknowingly has massive powers hidden to her and then one tiny circumstance makes them readily apparent. Also, a 17 year old who constantly sticks her tongue out like a child when she is upset is a bit lame.

I think this would have been better aged down with the aggressive sexual references removed.

A fine and complete ending for the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy. My only (small) quibble is that the sheer amount of content and world-building crammed into this not-so-short novel could easily have been made into two books. I want to know more about the cataclysm Ms. Taylor! More!

And man did my poor little heart get jerked around (yum). So much sexual tension, so much. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I just love when an author makes me beg for the moments. I did feel a new romance between two major-ish characters was a bit of a stretch for me, but whatever. Go Romance!

2nd Read: on audibook!

I just love this audiobook narrator, although I sure missed her Brimstone voice. Sigh. But, lyrical and just enthralling. I think I may have enjoyed listening to this more then I liked reading it. I still want more explanation about certain events...

Ah, more answers about the creepy creatures in the woods. I'm starting to think perhaps they aren't evil at all...maybe just misunderstood?

Another great volume of Northwoods WI horror. The Valentine's Day issue was hilarious.
