This is... a solid book. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I wanted to see where the character development was heading. I got a good understanding of the world the story was set in.
Though I know it’s YA, I did find myself wishing it was a proper adult novel given the subject matter it brushes over throughout the plot and the general premise of the main character being an assassin. There were a few moments I was pulled away from the story because the tone of the writing felt very young/childish for a character that is far from that.
Overall, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the next one in the series!

Short, concise, and straight to the point. Informative, insightful, and suspenseful. Loved every minute of it.
Full disclosure - I read this because it's going to be adapted into a tv series with Halsey and Sydney Sweeney. It's a murder mystery set in a prestigious high school at its core and I can see how it'll transfer from page to screen pretty effectively.
It was a quick read - the plot had plenty of twists and turns, but I can't say the resolution of the mystery took me by surprise. Like any good teen-centered drama, it draws you in and makes you want to know what happens next. It was very much a guilty-pleasure read. I look forward to watching the tv show!
